Papa John’s has been selling take-out pizza at the corner of Sheridan and Lake for decades and I’ve never had a pizza from there.
It’s time to change all of that as I’m eating every pizza in Peoria, so tonight we’re getting a pizza to go and eating it at a special guest star’s house.
Let’s start this saucy journey!
Check out the welcome sign outside! Okay, I faked that with Photoshop.
They were a little stand-offish about photos inside and they asked me not to take any. So much for free publicity!
Fast forward to the special guest star of the evening, Dan Belk! Here he is with his roomates, Catman and Wings!
Dan is the co-host of a podcast that we’ll be spotlighting in this post, but first, let’s try out the pizza pie from the camera-shy Papa John’s!
Here’s the boxes with tonight’s meal in them.
Let’s start opening them and sample the food for this week’s pizza pie post.
I got an order of the Buffalo Wings to start things off and they were plump and juicy. Just a little spicy and very decent wings. A nice start to the meal!
There’s Dan enjoying the Buffalo chicken wings.
I also got an order of the cheese bread and it looks like cheese pizza. I got cheese sauce to dip it in and I have to say, this sauce had a medicinal and metalic flavor. Not too tasty and let’s just move along here.
Despite the box saying I got the “Crust Stuffed Pizza” I actually got the thin crust cheese pizza. It bugs me that it says that and it also disturbs me that there was a lone pepper off to the side of the pizza.
I wish I could let shit like this go, but it really bothers me…okay, let’s try the pizza out.
The crust was crispy and thin, just the way I like it. The pizza was good, but nothing out of the ordinary, just your standard decent pizza pie.
There’s Dan enjoying a slice and he agreed that this was good pizza, but nothing too special.
He gave it a guest rating of: 6.5.
And now for the official weekly pizza rating…
——
The Rating System
Any rating from 0 to 5.9 is a substandard pizza that you should definitely avoid.
A rating from 6 to 8.5 is a good pizza and gets the MBIP pizza pie recommendation.
A rating from 8.6 to 9.4 means the pizza is very high quality and you need to try it out as soon as you can.
Ratings from 9.5 to 10 represent the best pizzas in Peoria (in my opinion).

MBIP SCORE
——
I”m giving this pizza a 6.7 rating. It was thin and crispy and had a nice flavor. Not the best pizza I’ve ever had, but definitely not the worst either. That lone pepper is still bugging me, I need to let that shit go!
And now on to something completely different…
Lights…camera…
Ladies and gentlemen, here’s the world premiere photo of The Not Half Dad Podcast Studio!
Dan co-hosts a weekly podcast with Aaron Selburg called “Not Half Dad.”
Every week they tell entertaining and captivating tales of what it’s like to be a Dad. It’s a very entertaining podcast and even if you’re like me and not a Dad at all, you’ll find it very entertaining.
The two have fun on-air chemistry and the shows are off-the-cuff fun and lively segments.
Here’s Dan in his comfortable Not Half Dad podcast chair pointing up to the Not Half Dad logo on the screen.
The podcast is sponsored by Smooth My Balls, a website and online store specializing in men’s grooming tools.
Dan and Aaron have their own Not Half Dad merchandise including t-shirts, coffee mugs and more. Check it out by clicking right here.
Dan said his partner on this podcast was a little camera-shy, but he managed to talk him into the shot below, so now, let’s meet Dan’s podcast partner, Aaron!
Here’s the talkative and entertaining duo, Dan and Aaron!
You may be noting that Aaron is a tad…uh…different from most of us. He was born without a body and is just a giant head. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!
Dan and Aaron met in a somewhat magical way.
Dan told me that a while back, he was somewhat down on his luck and was standing on a deserted back road and looked up to the skies and shouted out, “Can I just get ahead for once in my life?”
And all of a sudden…boom, Aaron appeared. Dan had his head and from then on podcast history was born!
You can listen and check out the Not Half Dad podcast at their website, facecrack page and their YouTube channel. Check out the weekly tales of their Dad entertaining and captivating adventures and memories.
