Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out starring this week’s host, Wahburgers and featuring special guest stars, Sarah and Kelsi!
Now, please welcome this week’s host, Wahlburgers!
Wahlburgers is right next door to Hy-Vee near The Shoppes at Grand Prarie. Hy-Vee is a great supermarket except for one thing: It’s just too damn big in there!
Anyway, There’s Wahlburgers, previously it was the Market Grille and I had a Saturday Night Dinner in there in 2018, back in the good old pre-Covid-19 days.
Speaking of Covid-19, this restaurant opened last August when the pandemic was raging. Talk about bad timing! Well, I”m glad they weathered the storm.
While I usually don’t go to chain stores or restaurants, this is the only one in Peoria and they are known for sourcing a lot of their food locally.
There’s a patio here if you want to sit outside, but I’m getting take-out, so let’s go in and pick up tonight’s dinner!
They’ve kept the interior somewhat similar to the Market Grille.
I went up to the bar and met Sarah and she said she’d check on our order. In the meantime she gave the green light to take some photos in here.
Alright, let’s start snapping!
The bar is nice, fully-stocked and as you can see, they have a great selection of beers on tap!
Wahlburgers is owned by Donnie and Mark Wahlberg and their brother Paul, who is the chef for Wahlburgers and he created the menu.
He also created a house sauce that you can buy and take home and turn any burger into a Wahlburger!
Indoor dining is open here, the place is empty because I’m kind of early for the dinner crowd.
There’s tables opposite the bar, the middle of the dining room has booths and tables and comfortable booths line the outer wall.
There’s an entire wall devoted to Wahlburgers merch.
There’s t-shirts, hats, shotglasses and merch…I mean much more!
I wandered back to the bar to check on our food order and…
Just like clockwork, here’s Kelsi with this week’s Saturday night take-out dinner!
And through the magic of these here interwebs—baboom—here we are back at the brand new MBIP World Headquarters. And note that this time we’re not eating over the stove because for the first time in over 25 years, I have a dining table!
I can actually sit down and enjoy this meal! This is fancy living folks! I’ll have a post when I’m finally completely settled in here, in about a month or so, stay tuned!
Okay, we’re all set and I’ve got a Bud Light tallboy to start it all off with.
Hmmm, for some reason it feels like something is missing…oh well, let’s rip into the beer and start this dinner off! Cheers!
I got an order of their Buffalo Wings and they look clucking fabulous!
These wings are really big and meaty! They remind me of this Who album!
They’re plump, juicy, spicy and really a taste-treat! But I still have this nagging feeling that something is missing here…oh well, let’s just keep moving along.
For the main course I got Mom’s Sloppy Joe sandwich.
This is a sloppy Joe consisting of seasoned ground beef on a thick slice of grilled bread and topped with a cheese sauce, the signature Wahl Sauce, fried onions and I got bacon added as well!
Even though I added bacon to this sandwich, I still have the weird feeling that something is missing here…oh well, let’s dig in.
This sandwich lives up to it’s sloppy name, so I’m going to eat it Terry Grawey style with a knife and a fork.
Wow, this is a delicious sandwich! There’s a lot of flavors happening here from the seasoned ground beef to the rich melted cheese and the crunchy savory fried onions! This is a real taste treat and the thick grilled bread is bakery fresh.
Now I realize what’s missing, all of the sandwiches and burgers come with a side dish and I ordered the Smoked Bacon Mac ‘N Cheese, but they forgot to include it.
That’s sad because it sounded really tasty, oh well, mistakes happen and the meal was very tasty and everyone at Wahlburgers were extremely nice, so we’ll let that go.
Let’s find a picture of bacon mac and cheese online to finish off this Saturday night meal…
Okay, now I’m hungry for mac ‘n cheese! I’m going to go get some, we’ll see you all tomorrow!
