Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out starring this week’s host, MD’s Sports Bar & Grill featuring special guest stars, Leslie and Dan!
Now, please put your hands together to welcome this week’s host, MD’s Sports Bar & Grill!
There’s the MD’s sign that looms near University Street…hey, how did they know we were coming!
It was tough to get a decent shot of the outside of the building because of the parked cars around it. That’ll bother me for quite some time.
The entrance is over here on the side of the building, let’s go in take a look around and pick up tonight’s Saturday night dinner!
The bar looks festive with the lights hanging overhead.
Leslie was working the register and said our order would be up soon. Let’s take some photos in here while we wait.
There’s another shot of the bar, there’s pinball and gaming machines lining the far wall and there’s tables in the dining room opposite the bar.
There’s a game room off to the side with a pool table, state-of-the-art dart boards and a door that leads to…
The outside beer garden.
It’s a little chilly tonight, so no one’s out here, but this is a fabulous beer garden! I’ll have to come back when it finally starts to warm up outside.
Meanwhile, back at the bar…
Our Saturday night take-out order is all ready!
That’s Dan, who owns MD’s with his mom, MaryBeth. That’s where the name of the sports bar comes from, she’s the M and he’s the D. They took this place over four years ago and you can read all about it in this article in the PJ Star.
Through the magic of these here interwebs we’re back at MBIP World Headdquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area. I’ve moved into a new HQ, but I’ve been slow in setting it up, hopefully in a few weeks I can give you a tour of the new location.
Okay, there’s the three-tier dinner for tonight and as always, let’s crack open a giganzo can of Bud Light to start things off. Cheers!
The first course is wings and rings!
I got an order of the onion rings and hot chicken wings. They come with Ranch dressing for the wings and a house-made sauce for the onion rings. Let’s dig in!
I tried the onion rings first and that sauce is unbelievably tasty! The onion rings were crispy and delicious!
The chicken wings were plump, juicy and had just the right amount of spicy heat. I didn’t dip them into the Ranch dressing because I’m not Terry Grawey.
I got the quarter pound hot dog for the main entree and it comes dressed with chopped onions and homemade relish. I love that the bun is buttered and toasted.
I had some of the onion ring sauce left, so I poured that on the dog and added some Sweet & Spicy Mustard to it.
Now that’s a fantastic looking hot dog!
This is one fabulous hot dog. The hot dog has wonderful flavor and the condiments and bakery fresh toasted bun take it all the way to the top!
Very tasty and satisfying!
For dessert I had to try their Pastry Poppers. These are deep-fried orbs of dough, drizzled with melted chocolate and hot caramel with cinnamon sugar sprinkles. And yes, these were as wonderful as that description sounds!
What a sweet treat and a very happy ending to this marvelous take out meal from MD’s Sports Bar & Grill!
