I’ve been doing this Pizzas of Peoria Saturday series for about eight months now and I think it’s time to do something else. I have a new idea for a Saturday food series and that will start next Saturday, so stay tuned for that.
I thought we’d end this series at the same place it started: Agatucci’s!
Agatucci’s is my favorite local Peoria pizza emporium and when I did my year of pizza tour, I ended it at Agatucci’s.
Let’s go back in time and revisit that festive post, oh Sherman…
Please set the Wayback Machine for January 27, 2015 and…
Baboom, here we are at Agatucci’s for the last week of the MBIP Year of Pizza!
My favorite place to sit when I’m dining alone in here is at the end of the bar, so let’s go get settled in down there.
There’s our host’s for the evening, Tony and Danny Agatucci, two of the nicest guys in town!
Since this was the last pizza of the MBIP Year of Pizza tour, Tony said he’d make me a special pizza pie.
There he is ladling the sauce on it and Mike stepped in to put the finishing touches on it.
There’s Mike sliding it into the oven.
Two of my favorite things in here are the Michelob lamp hanging over the bar and the classic backwards Agatucci’s clcok!
Here’s Mike serving up the giant specialty Agatucci’s pizza pie!
We’ll sauce it up with some of Agatucci’s Tiger Sauce and some hot sauce.
Tony and Mike made me a special Agatucci’s pizza with one third sausage, another third "special" with green peppers, onion and mushrooms and the last third pepperoni.
It looks amazing!
All three sections were really tasty, but I like the sausage section the best.
Agatucci's pizza is a family recipe that's been handed down through the year's and it's really a Peoria tradition built into a tasty pizza pie.
There’s not another pizza pie like it in Peoria or beyond!
Here I am taking a bite of the 52nd pie in so many weeks. It was quite the cheesy year!
Of course I couldn’t finish the entire pizza pie…
So they gave me a doggie bag for each section. I love Agatucci’s!

Surprise link, click on it…I dare you! (Note the last sentence of the facecrack post! It was indeed a memorable year, but not in the way we were thinking back then!)
