Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out starring this week’s host, Mission BBQ and featuring special guest star, Mike!
Now please put your hands together and welcome this week’s host, Mission BBQ!
Here we are at Mission BBQ. This is a brand new BBQ restaurant in Peoria.
It’s located on Sterling Avenue, just across from Northwoods Mall in front of Westlake Shopping Center. It just opened up a little over a week ago.
They have picnic tables outside and indoor dining has opened back up, but we’re getting take-out, so let’s go in and pick up this week’s Saturday night dinner!
I went up to the counter and was told that my order would be up shortly and they’d call my name out when it was ready.
They said I could take some photos while I wait, so let’s put the MBIP Camera to work and start snapping!
There’s a nice dining area in here with wooden booths lining the perimeter and tables inside of that.
They have a large selection of bottled soft drinks and you can take your pick from this iced container.
Sadly, they have no beer, but you can get a six pack to go…of their homemade BBQ sauce.
As you can see, the walls are covered with photos. The theme here honors military veterans, fire fighters and police officers.
Here’s some random photos on the wall and at the bottom is a picture of the Peoria Fire-Rescue Department. That’s a nice local touch!
My name just got called, so let’s go up to the front counter and pick up this week’s Saturday night dinner.
There’s Mike handing over the dinner and check out the special bag they made for us!
I have to say that everyone that works here is really friendly and nice.
Okay, we’re back at MBIP World Headquarters and we’ll start the dinner off with a little change-up of beers.
This week we’re enjoying a 16 ounce Pabst tallboy with dinner. Cheers!

Carton Number One
We’ve got two cartons of food to sample and here’s carton number one.
Clockwise from top we’ve got: Mac and cheese, cornbread, Jalapeno and cheese sausage and beef brisket. I also got two styles of BBQ sauce, Tupelo Honey Heat and Smoky Mountain.
Let’s dig in!
I started off with the mac and cheese. Most BBQ places have mac and cheese and more often than not, it’s never very good. For some reason a lot of times it’s kind of bland. But this is the exception to that rule!
The mac and cheese is topped with toasty bread crumbs and it’s cheesy, has a little bit of tang to it and it’s really delicious!
We’re off to a great start here!
Next I tried the beef brisket. The brisket has a nice char on the edge and it’s prepared similar to rib tips.
I dipped it into the BBQ sauce and it was a smoky and tasty treat!
The cornbread served as a palate cleanser between the meat sampling!
I was anxious to try the Jalapeno and cheese sausage. As you can see, there’s chunks of Jalapeno and cheddar cheese in the sausage. I dunked it in the sauce and this was really delicious.
The sausage had a great flavor and the Jalapeno gave it a nice spicy kick and the cheese added a creamy and rich level.
This is a unique flavor you won’t find anywhere else in town!

Carton Number Two
They have two styles of ribs here, Spare Ribs and Baby Back Ribs.
You can get an order of five or ten or you can buy them by the bone, which I’ve never seen anywhere else.
I got two bones of each and sauced them up.
The Spare Ribs were tender, juicy and really flavorful! They’re prepared “St, Louis style.”
You’ve heard the phrase, “fall off the bone tender” and that’s exactly what happened when I tried to pick up a Baby Back Rib, the meat fell right off of the bone!
So I picked up the meat with my fingers and it was such a tender, juicy and savory treat!
Peoria has a great new BBQ restaurant, so go and check it out!
