Broken Tree started out as a coffee shop on the corner of Main Street and Sheridan Road that also featured work from local artists. I did my first blog post on broken tree way back in March of 2013.
Over a year later, broken tree had evolved into a late afternoon/evening destination for drinks and homemade pizza while still featuring gourmet coffee and local art.
I went there in July of 2014 while on my year-long MBIP journey of visiting pizza places in and around Peoria.
Let’s go back in time and re-visit this saucy stop from almost seven years ago.
Oh, Sherman…
Please set the Peoria Pizza Wayback Machine to July 1st, 2014 and…
Whoomp, here we are at broken tree. Check out all the neon signage in the front window!
It’s really nice in here and I love the circular, highly polished wooden bar. I quickly snagged a seat there.
As soon as I sat down, Anna delivered up an ice-cold can of Pabst beer with a beautiful smile! The evening was off to a fantastic start.
There’s the owner of broken tree, Jeremiah preparing my pizza pie.
He makes the dough fresh here every day and he’s sliding the pie into his pizza oven.
Meanwhile, back at the bar…
I took this fuzzy picture of Tony who was sitting next to me.
There’s my view from where I’m perched at the bar here in broken tree.
Here’s this week’s Pizza of Peoria and it looks fabulous!
Jeremiah says that his pizza is a variation on New York’s style of pizza.
Having lived in New York for 19 years, I’d have to say that he knows what he’s doing. This is as close to a New York slice of pizza as I think I’ve ever had in Peoria.
The crust was thin and crispy and the sauce was really zingy and tasty. Wonderful homemade pizza!
