My friend and the owner of Kenny’s Westside Pub, Sean Kenny told me recently that I need to check out a new place called, Touch Of Grey Cafe in West Peoria. So that’s exactly what we’re doing today, because Sean knows of all the cool places here in Peoria and beyond, so it’s off we go to Touch Of Grey.
Here we are at Touch Of Grey Cafe on Rohmann Avenue in West Peoria. Check out the address on the right and the emphasis on the 420 portion of it, ha!
Let’s go inside and see what’s happening.
It’s nice in here and it’s got a cozy and relaxing atmosphere with comfortable booths lining the walls and a long bar for indoor dining, which just opened back up.
Hey, I think I see a familiar face over there…
It’s Andrew Kenny, the brother of aforementioned Sean Kenny! It was great to see him, but I wonder if Sean sent him just to make sure I checked the place out!
I’m here Sean, tell your family they can stop trailing me!
They have a full menu here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the hours are 7am to 7pm, Tuesday through Saturday. They’re open on Sunday from 7am to 2pm and they are closed on Mondays.
Fresh donuts, muffins and pastries are for sale here in this case and you can see some St. Patrick’s Day themed donuts at the top of the display case.
Touch Of Grey is part of a St. Patrick’s Day West Peoria Pub Crawl next week on St. Patrick’s Day which also includes, Mike’s Tavern, Tartan Inn and West Town Tap.
You can read all the details of this St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl here. Too-rah-loo-rah-loo-rah!
Here’s the obligatory Touch Of Grey t-shirt. But from the angle of this photo it’s the “Ouch” Of Grey Cafe.
As you can guess from the name of the cafe, this place has a Grateful Dead theme and there’s an impressive amount of Grateful Dead framed photos, art and concert memorabilia on the walls in here.
And keeping with the Sean Kenny theme of the day, there’s also a poster from a past show at Kenny’s Westside Pub!
Here’s a shot from the back of the cafe.
There’s the owner of Touch Of Grey, Miles, standing next to the bar. He said business has been good in spite of opening up in the midst of the pandemic.
He took me outside and showed me a concert bandstand/beer garden he’s building out here and said there will be live music here on St. Patrick’s Day. Very cool!
I came back in and decided to have some lunch while I was here. There’s Tyler getting ready to cook it up for me.
In addition to a nice selection of coffee and tea, they also have canned and bottled soda and a decent selection of canned beers in here.
Here’s Tyler serving up our lunch! And of course he’s got a Grateful Dead vintage concert t-shirt on!
I got the Cuban Panini and it was so delicious!
It’s got savory and tasty pork and ham with crispy pickles and mustard on a grilled bakery fresh baguette. It’s hard to find a decent Cuban sandwich in Peoria and this is one of the best ones I’ve ever had!
And it was filling, I didn’t have room for dessert, but that’s okay…
Here’s Nadine with a painting of Homer Simpson enjoying a donut!
This was painted by my friend and one third of Sarah & The Underground, Brandon Mooberry! Great work, Brandon!
Thanks to Sean Kenny for turning me on to Touch Of Grey Cafe, I’ll definitely be back and you should check it out soon!
