Live, from East Peoria, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out, starring this week’s host, BBQ Smoke Wagon and featuring special guest star, Johnis.
Now please welcome, all the way from East Peoria, this week’s host, BBQ Smoke Wagon!
After a white-knuckled trip over the Murray Baker Bridge, here we are at BBQ Smoke Wagon in East Peoria.
Last time we were here was in January of 2019 and this place was the East Peoria location for Lou’s Drive-In. It looks pretty much the same as it did back then.
They have a Drive-Through (I refuse to use the “Thru” spelling, it’s just wrong) but I phoned my order in, so we’ll go up to the window over here and see if it’s ready.
There’s Johnis behind the window looking pretty and I love her smile!
She’s going to check on our order.
There she is checking…
And here she is with our order! Fabulous service!
I thought about eating out here on the patio but it was a little chilly, so it’s back to the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area we go.
And baboom—through the magic of these here interwebs, here we are.
As always the Saturday night meal will start off with the traditional opening of a giganzo can of Bud Light. Cheers!
Okay, let’s dig in to this week’s Saturday night take-out meal.
I got the three meat combo platter which comes with two sides.
I got a side of cole slaw and macaroni and cheese.
The cole slaw was really tasty. It was slightly tart and a little sweet and very crunchy.
The macaroni and cheese was okay, but it was just a little on the bland side for my tastes. It wasn’t horrible by any means, but it could’ve been a little cheesier in my opinion.
Now it’s on to the main course, I got the three meat combo platter with smoked sausage, sliced beef and ribs. It includes a piece of homemade corn bread and it was delicious and flaky!
Now on to the meat of the meal!
The smoked sausage and beef were both savory and tasty. The sausage was smoky and had a little spiciness and the beef was tender and juicy.
The BBQ sauce was zippy and tangy and it complimented both meat selections nicely.
Okay, now we’ll sample the ribs. I poured the rest of the sauce on them and they look and smell heavenly!
These were fabulous ribs! The meat was smoky and fall of the bone tender. This was a wonderful and tasty barbecue dinner!
They have a lot more selections on their menu, so I’ll definitely come back and next time we’ll eat outside on the patio!
