For this week’s edition of Lunch At First Bite, we’re meeting a one-time veteran of this series and someone else who’s never appeared on here.
So let’s begin this luncheon adventure and meet our two special guest stars for this week!
Lunch is happening at The Pour House this week which is conveniently located near the MBIP World Headquarters.
Check out the obligatory unplanned mirror shot happening in the doorway, I love it when that happens!
Here we are inside of The Pour House, time to find a table and meet this week’s special luncheon guests!
Nikki is our friendly waitress and she’s been featured on the blog for this series a while back and back when she was working at the old Hungry Moose on Farmington Road.
She took a picture of myself and this week’s special luncheon guests, Phil Jordan, who’s been on the blog before but never in this series and Steve Tarter who’s been featured many times on the blog and this is his second appearance in this series.
Great to see both of them!
Be sure and check out Steve’s podcasts on WCBU Radio and his Tarter Source column on facecrack.
The Pour House has an extensive menu and it’s a hidden gem when it comes to comfort, pub-styled food.
We placed our order and then it was time for me to spring into MBIP photo mode!
There’s the front view of the bar in here and gaming machines are located opposite of it near the back of the room. The very back has state-of-the-art dart machines, tables and a big screen TV.
There’s a shoot of the bar from the back of the room.
As I return to the table, Nikki is delivering our appetizer order of hot wings. They were saucy and spicy and very delicious!
Now it’s time to take a few more photos in here and abandon Phil and Steve once again!
Two things I always take photos of in here are the Blue Moon neon sign and the lit up whiskey bottles on display on the back wall in here.
Meanwhile, back at our table, designated with a whomping-stomping red arrow…
The main courses have arrived!
That’s Nikki and Nate delivering our lunches.
Nate is the chef who prepared our lunches and I’m anxious to dig in because I’m starvin’ like you know who!
Both Phil and Steve got the Angus burger with cheese and French fries. The burgers and fries look absolutely delicious!
The Pour House features a half a dozen different styles of hot dogs and I opted for the Bacon Cheddar Hot Dog.
It’s topped with melted shredded cheddar cheese and two strips of freshly cooked bacon.
It looks absolutely decadent and delightful!
For my side option I went with the homemade potato chips and they were crispy and very satisfying.
The Cheddar Bacon Hot Dog was simply unbelievable and just may have been the best hot dog I’ve ever had!
It’s an all beef quarter pound hot dog smothered in crisp, smoky bacon and rich melted cheddar cheese. It’s served on a bakery fresh, soft, pillowy hot dog bun and it’s savory, rich and oh so tasty!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, The Pour House is definitely a hidden gem when it comes to comfort styled bar food!
Check out Nikki’s nails, those are very pretty and impressive!
Of course Steve had to try and compete and show off his nails, sorry Steve, but those aren’t that impressive!
Thanks to both Steve and Phil for joining me for lunch! It was a lot of fun and now it’s time for…

The Same Three Fucking Questions!
I forgot to ask either one these questions and didn’t realize it till this morning when I’m putting this together. Well, I’ve asked these questions of Steve back when we had lunch at Jimmy’s Bar, so I’ll just rerun his answers to these same fucking three questions. Away we go!
1. Does ketchup belong on a hot dog?
OK, I'm going to waffle on this one. I don't mind ketchup on a hotdog when I have one at home but when ordering a Chicago dog with all the trimmings (peppers, green relish and all that), I don't want ketchup.
2. Is deep dish pizza really pizza or is it a casserole like Jon Stewart says it is.
It's pizza—especially here in the Midwest where Chicago-style pizza, thick and thin, is so popular.
3. Why do fools fall in love?
Because they're foolish which can be a lot of fun sometimes.
