Way back in the summer of 2014, I did a blog on the building that used to be the Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery. OSF occupies a good chunk of the building, but I discovered something special in the jewelry store next to OSF. The store was Pettet Jewelry and in addition to fine jewelry, they had a bar and the wall had the Pabst logo painted on it.
I found out that Pabst used to use this room, which they called The 33 Room, as a bar/entertainment area and they kept the bar and logo for historical value. Pettet Jewelry have since shut down and are now an online business, but Kip Rodier and Dustin Crawford have taken the place over and they’ve turned it back into a new version of The 33 Room. The space can now be rented out for parties, pop up events, intimate performances and more!
My friend Jeanette told me that they were having an open house last Sunday and wanted to know if I wanted to go to it with her, since her husband Tim was going to be watching football at The Red Barn.
I usually review frozen pizzas on Thursday’s here at the blog, but one frozen pizza I was planning on eating on this pizza tour was a Butch’s Pizza at The Red Barn. So I told Jeanette we could go to the open house and then meet Tim at The Red Barn for Butch’s Pizza and beer and so that’s exactly what we did.
You can see photos of this fabulous day by scrolling down!
Here’s the Pabst building. Beer production started in this building on April 7, 1933. You can read about the history of the Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery right here.
There’s the new and improved 33 Room! Check out the logo on the awning the neon in the window. Very cool!
I took a shot of Jeanette taking a photo, dueling cameras!
There’s Jeanette inside and as you can see, there’s a nice crowd of people in here! The open house was for people who worked at Pabst or had relatives that worked there. And yes, Jeanette and I crashed this one, hey, someone had to!
There’s the two guys in charge of the new 33 Room, Kip and Dustin. They were giving out free cans of Pabst! I met Dustin a few years ago at 2 Chez and you can see his picture if you scroll down this post.
There’s another open house for the public on Sunday, December 5th from noon to 3:33pm!
They had a whole table of PJ Star articles about the Pabst Brewery from years gone by.
The place is filled with vintage Pabst memorabilia!
The bottom photos feature the last can of Pabst produced at the brewery. it says, “LAST DAY-PEORIA” on the bottom of the can.
Lots of vintage photos and ads to look at in here too.
The bottom ad reveals why it’s called The 33 Room, it’s because Pabst was blended 33 times to give it it’s unique flavor.
Cheers and Pabst beers from The 33 Room!
Don’t forget to come and check out the public Open House on December 5th from noon to 3:33pm! Thanks to Kip and Dustin for letting Jeanette and I crash this private one!
Now, on to the Red Barn for this week’s pizza pie!
And through the miracles of these here interwebs, baboom, here we are at The Red Barn!
I haven’t been inside of here since the rotten pandemic blew into town a year and a half ago and I’m excited to be going back inside of here!
The Red Barn is one of Peoria’s oldest and iconic taverns!
Everyone is watching football at the bar and there’s Thomas on duty behind the bar.
Great to see his smiling face again!
We found Jeanette’s husband, Tim at the bar and it’s great to see him again too!
Tim’s a musician and he plays bass in Matthew Curry’s band and other musical ensembles. Check him out on Reverb Nation!
There’s Spuds MacKenzie behind the bar and they have a half a dozen beers on tap to choose from.
Booths line the walls opposite the bar and they’ve painted over the graffiti on the walls! I’m not sure how I feel about that, but what are you going to do? Time rolls on and so do the paintbrushes.
There’s gaming machines in the back and live music is back at the Red Barn. There’s open mic nights two nights a week and there’s also live bands occasionally on Saturdays.
Follow their facecrack page for musical updates and announcements.
Meanwhile, back at. our booth, Thomas is serving up a freshly baked Butch’s pizza pie!
It’s cooked well-done, just the way I like it!
I don’t know why, but Butch’s Pizza always tastes best at The Red Barn!
We got a sausage and pepperoni pizza and it was so delicious! The crust was crispy and thin and the toppings and cheese were very tasty!
Thanks to Jeanette and Tim for hanging out, it was a fun afternoon!
Now it’s time to rate this week’s Butch’s Pizza pie!

The Weekly Pizza Rating
Butch’s Pizza at the Red Barn is better than most pizzas you get at a restaurant and I’m giving it a high rating of 9.2.
But remember, to eat Butch’s pizza with this high quality, you have to go to The Red Barn! It’s the rules!
