Sugar Wood-Fired Bistro is known for their blazing wood-fired oven that cooks up their pizzas and other entrees and side dishes.
I went there almost six years ago and met some friends, sampled one of their wood-fired pizzas and entered Gumby into a wood-fired oven challenge!
Let’s go back in time and check out this saucy adventure!
Oh, Sherman…
Set the Wayback Machine for February 11, 2014 and…
Here we are at Sugar Wood-Fred Bistro in beautiful downtown Peoria!
Let’s go inside and see what’s happening!
I was joined this evening by my friends, Stacy and John.
They’re holding up a Sugar pizza box while I’ve got a grip on Gumby, who will play a big part in this post coming up!
Juan made our pizza for the evening and he let me take some photos of him assembling the pie!
Here he is sliding the pie into the red-hot wood-fired oven!
Minutes later the pizza is done and how fabulous does this look?
This is the BBQ Chicken Pizza and it was amazing!
This pizza was so tasty. The BBQ sauce was tangy with just a hint of sweetness coming through.
All the flavors of the chicken, bacon, carmelized onions and melted gouda cheese did a nice flavorful dance on my tastebuds.
Such a delicious thin crust pizza pie!
And I had some leftover to eat for breakfast.
Cold pizza pie: The breakfast of champions!
And Now….It’s Time For: Gumby Vs. Oven!
Back then I had been watching the series, Man Vs. Food and decided to try out an experiment here utilizing Gumby and their red-hot wood fired oven and this experiment is called, Gumby Vs. Oven!
We basically slid Gumby into the blazing hot oven to see if he could survive.
Well, Gumby got a little burned up in his time in the hot seat, but there’s still a smile on his face, so I declared him the winner!
Juan was nice enough to put Gumby in a to-go container and this evening came to a close!
