Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out starring this week’s host, Haddad’s Restaurant and featuring special guest star, Michelle.
Now please welcome this week’s host, Haddad’s Restaurant!
So I got a flat tire last week and while the tire is getting fixed, I’m driving on the spare donut tire and didn’t want to travel too far for this week’s Saturday Night Take-Out Dinner. I was thinking about places close to the MBIP World Headquarters and realized that I hadn’t been to Haddad’s Restaurant in Pioneer Park in quite a while.
So I phoned in an order and whoomp, here we are at Haddad’s Restaurant on University near Pioneer Park.
I did some checking and the last time we were here was almost seven years ago in 2014! We’re overdue for some of their delicious food.
Let’s go in and start our Saturday night!
I went in and Michelle had our order all ready to go! I love her glasses and I’m sure there’s a pretty smile underneath that mask!
She said I could take a few photos in here, so let’s start snapping!
A menu hangs behind the counter and there’s the obligatory Phil Luciano article on the counter.
That’s a drawing of Haddad’s founder, Tony Haddad. Below the drawing is a photo of his beautiful wife, Loreece.
I met Tony Haddad while doing a post featuring the Peoria downtown food carts. He was a friendly and nice person.
Tables line the walls in here and there’s the menu. There is limited indoor dining in here again if you want to eat in the restaurant.
There’s a shot from the back and we’ll take a look out the window and then before you know it…
Whoosh, we’re back at MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
There’s this week’s take-out dinner all stacked up and ready to open and feast upon!
But first, we’ll start off the meal with a giganzo can of Bud Light. Cheers!
I started off the dinner with an order of their homemade onion rings.
I got a tub of melted cheese to dip them in and they were so delicious! They’re crispy, lightly breaded and this was a wonderful start to our Saturday night dinner!
I also got an order of chicken wings. They have a variety of sauces to choose from and I went with the hot wings.
They were, plump, spicy and tasty, this is turning out to be quite a wonderful meal!
Now on to the main course, a Shish Kebab dinner!
These are skewers of flame-broiled steak, grilled onion and red peppers.
I had a couple bites of the steak and it was so juicy, tender and delicious!
The dinner comes with a bed of rice and two warm pieces of pita bread. As I looked at the pita bread and then the tub of cheese, I had a brainstorm.
I applied a generous coating of the melted cheese to the inside of the pita pocket and then poured on some hot sauce.
Then I added steak, onions and peppers from the Shish-Kebabs and voilà, I’ve just made a Lebanese steak sandwich!
Wow, this is a fantastic sandwich!
The steak is savory and juicy and the cheese adds a nice richness to the blend. The hot sauce gives it a nice spicy kick and it’s housed in a warm pillowy pita pocket!
This was a delicious meal!! Thanks to Michelle and everyone at Haddad’s for a wonderful Saturday Night Take-Out dinner!
