We now interrupt this week’s Pizzas of Peoria to bring you this special New Year’s dinner from last night.
Okay, let’s cook!
Usually I just make up my own recipes here and wing it, but tonight’s dinner is taken from this episode of Sam The Cooking Guy. It’s a one pan honey mustard steak dish.
I’m going to make a few variations, but here’s the ingredients: New York Texas Toast, a bottle of white wine, a ribeye steak, honey mustard, mushrooms, Asian vegetables, Haagen Dazs ice cream and Tillamook Cheddar Cheese.
I’ll also be using ingredients and spices from the MBIP Kitchen and Pantry. Okay, let’s get this 2021 feast started!
And of course the most important ingredient is a giganzo can of Bud Light. Cheers!
We’ll season the steak with salt and pepper and then let it sit and get to room temperature.
I’ve got fancy cheese for this meal! Tillamook Smoked Black Pepper White Cheddar and Hot Habanero Jack.
And the answer to the age-old question of: “Who cut the cheese?” Well that would be me!
We’ll get the side dishes going now. The New York Texas Toast goes into a pre-heated 425 degree oven and the Asian vegetables will get heated up in the microwave.
And is it me, or does “New York Texas Toast” sound schizophrenic?
We’ll cook the steak on the cast iron skillet that’s hot and covered in melted butter.
The trick I learned from the cooking video is to turn the steak repeatedly in the pan, which I did.
After about ten minutes it was done and we’ll put it off to the side and let it rest.
Now it’s time to make the honey mustard sauce for the meal.
We add chopped onions, olive oil, some white wine, mushrooms, Texas Pete hot sauce, lots of black pepper and then stir it up and let that simmer for a few minutes.
It already smells heavenly!
Now we add a carton of heavy cream, the honey mustard and slices of the Tillamook fancy cheese.
We’ll let that simmer on a high heat for about five minutes so the cheese melts and all the flavors blend together.
Then we add some soy sauce and a few spoons of the honey mustard sauce to the Asian vegetables for extra flavor.
I sliced the steak and the schizo New York Texas Toast into strips…
And put them right into the pan with the delicious smelling honey mustard sauce.
Usually I just eat my meals standing over the stove, but since tonight is the start of a new year…
I made a place setting at my coffee table and invited the Nude Family and the Shamwow Bunnies to join me for dinner.
I got the Nude Family at a thrift store and the Shamwow Bunnies were made by my friend Ash.
Okay, here’s the dinner, now let’s dig in!
The Asian vegetables were tasty and the honey mustard sauce added a level of richness to them.
The steak was unbelievable. It was tender, juicy and savory and the honey mustard sauce is borderline decadent. It’s so rich and creamy!
I ended up using the schizo New York Texas Toast to make mini steak sandwiches and this meal was simply scrumptious!
The melty Haagan Dazs was a sweet way to end this New Year’s dinner!
Happy New Year everyone, let’s hope for the best in 2021!
