Last week I reported on the Great Wall being created at Younger Than Yesterday record shop. Well, it’s just about done and I’ve been stopping by to document this unique artwork created by owner Craig Moore, Dave Moe, Jeff Hyde and a fellow named “Bear” who’s never there. Hmmm…”A Fellow Named Bear Who’s Never There.” That kind of sounds like a children’s book…Dr. Seuss, are you reading this?
Anyway, here’s 11 days of art on the outer walls of Younger Than Yesterday records!
June 2, 2020
Craig Moore posted these photos on facecrack, shortly after a looting spree happened here in Peoria. I was afraid his shop got hit and called him and he told me the wood was just for preventative measures.
He also told me that he had an idea to turn this wood into art. I was curious and he invited me to stop by later in the week, so that’s exactly what I did!
June 4, 2020
I stopped by on June 4th and the artwork was just starting. Craig, along with Dave Moe and Jeff Hyde decided to turn the wood on the outer walls into a piece of art inspired by Pink Floyd’s album, “The Wall.” Genius!
Craig said that putting the wood on the outer walls of his shop felt and looked like defeat and he wanted to turn this into something positive for his shop and the community. I love it!

On this night they were outlining the bricks, because after all, you’re only another brick in the wall.
Here they are checking out their work…but I’m wondering, where the hell is this “Bear” guy?
June 6, 2020
I stopped by a day later and thought it was done, but Craig told me that Dave and Jeff had more ideas for the wall.
June 9, 2020
I stopped by a few days later and Jeff and Dave were adding more art to the wall. This is turning into something really amazing!
But where the hell is “Bear?”
June 11, 2020
No one was here today, but more details have been added and this is looking fabulous!
June 12, 2020
Wow, even more details have been painted on to the wall. This gets better with every day!
June 15, 2020
Here’s photos from yesterday. Craig said that Dave and Jeff are still going to be adding to this artwork, so stop by and keep checking up on this unique mural.
The Wall has finally been built…and Younger Than Yesterday paid for it! Bravo!
P.S. I don’t think this guy, “Bear” exists. I think he’s an invisible friend of Craig, Dave and Jeff. It’s a little sad, but what are you going to do?
