Back in January of 2016, I stopped into Haddad’s restaurant on Main Street for part of my “Eating Main Street” series here on MBIP.
I met Nidal who made me a Lebanese sandwich housed in a pita pocket. You can see the sandwich by scrolling on down and then there’s a link to the original post.
Here’s Haddad’s Restaurant on Main Street. They’ve been in operation here for years.
This is Nidal, who’s the daughter of Tony Haddad, who is the founder of the Haddad legacy here in Peoria.
He started selling food from a cart and eventually moved into this restaurant. Tony died in 2015, but he lives on through his relatives and this restaurant.
Here’s Nidal making the Shawarma sandwich.
And here she is serving it up to me at my table in Haddad’s Restaurant on Main Street.
Thiswas so tasty and delicious!
Housed inside the fresh pita pocket is marinated beef tips, tabbouleh salad, onions, tomato and topped off with a creamy sesame sauce.
The beef is so tender and succulent and the tabbouleh salad, onions and tomato add to the wonderful flavor. The sesame sauce is spicy and adds a nice zing to the sandwich.
