It’s hard to believe, but it’s Memorial Day Weekend. With this whole Coronavirus thing happening, this kind of snuck up on me! I thought since this marks the start of summer, it would be fun to put up a hot dog post on this week’s sandwich spotlight.
So I chose a post from a classic drive-in over in Pekin, Cranwill’s Drive-In, where I sampled a couple of hot dogs almost seven years ago.
Here we are at Cranwill’s Drive-In, this place has been standing tall in this location in Pekin for over 50 years! There’s Jessica serving up the first mug of root beer!
You have to have root beer at a drive-in restaurant, it’s just the rules!
And here’s Rhae bringing a tray with our food and yet another mug of root beer! I guzzled the first one!
There’s the two hot dogs all wrapped up. Let’s unwrap them and try them out!
The first one is a chili cheese dog and it was very tasty. The chili was zesty and zippy and was complimented nicely by the melted cheese.
I also got a plain hot dog, which I applied a generous dollop of mustard to. It was delicious as well and the bun was steamed and bakery fresh!
Delicious hot dogs and a nice summer treat!
In addition to the hot dogs I also got an order of chili tamales topped with onions and they were a tangy delight!
What a great drive-in meal!
