Here’s a sandwich that I enjoyed on my year-long sandwich tour back in November of 2016. It was my 25th week and I stopped in at The Chef and The Baker and tried out their PB & J sandwich. That name is a little misleading but delicious and if you scroll down, you’ll see what I mean.
Note: This sandwich is no longer available on their menu, but they have many other tasty treats, check out the menu here. And they’re open Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 2pm during these quarantine times for lunch carry-out. You can see the details at their facecrack page.
Here we are at The Chef & The Baker which is located on McClure just off of Knoxville. This is a family owned business…
And here’s the family that owns it! From left: Ian, Gabriel, Karen and Emily. A beautiful family and very nice people!
There’s the Chef serving up the sandwich which is a PB & J, but that title is a little misleading.
Usually PB & J stands for peanut butter and jelly, but not in this case. PB & J for this sandwich means Pork Belly and Jicama and pepper slaw. This sandwich had amazing and unique flavor!
The pork belly is brown sugar cured and had a nice sweet and savory flavor. Adding to the mix of flavors was the pickled Jicama and pepper slaw, fresh tomatoes, sliced red onions and crisp lettuce.
It was topped with Havarti cheese and the hoagie roll was fresh and made in-house. It was so tasty and delicious!
I had one of their homemade cupcakes for dessert. This is a S’More chocolate cupcake and it was a nice sweet treat to end this sandwich lunch!
