The stores (for now) have restocked the meat section and I’ve burned through all of my frozen and microwave food that I stocked up at the beginning of this pandemic that we’re all trying to get through.
This week I got some pork ribs at the store because I’ve never cooked ribs in my life. It’ll be a new experience and I’m anxious to see if I can pull this off.
Let’s get cooking!
The ingredients for this week’s Marty Meal are, from left: Stubbs Pork Marinade, Schnuck’s Fresh Pork Ribs which were butcher cut in store, Giorgio Shiitake Mushrooms and Rice-A-Roni Cheddar Broccoli Rice.
I’ll also be adding some seasonings, sauces and carrots already in place in the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
I’ve placed the ribs in a pan and now we’ll season them with black pepper, brown sugar, mustard powder, minced onions and hot sauce. Then we’ll top that off with some 816 hot barbecue sauce and the entire bottle of Stubbs Pork Marinade.
The ribs are now swimming in a river of flavor!
Now we’ll cover the pan with foil and let it marinade overnight.
Hmmm…what should we do now? Oh I know…
Let’s drink about 10,000 beers and forget that we’re in the middle of one of the worst fucking times in history. Cheers!
Well, we made it through the night and now it’s time to take the ribs out of the fridge and pop them into a pre-heated 300 degree oven.
These are going to slow-bake for two hours. While we wait for them to be done, you can watch the two videos below.
The first is a scene from the TV show M*A*S*H from an episode entitled, Adam’s Ribs, which is where I got the name for this week’s Marty Meal. Below that is a podcast about this episode featuring the actor who played the cook Igor. Enjoy!
Okay, hope you enjoyed that and now let’s go make the side dish.
We’ll start off by nuking a bowl of Cheddar Broccoli Rice-A-Roni.
Then we’ll heat up the shiitake mushrooms and some carrots in Italian dressing that are left over from yesterday’s lunch.
We’ll season the mixture with some black pepper and hot sauce and add the nuked rice. Rice, mushrooms, carrots…hike!
it’s the moment of truth time as we take the ribs out of the oven. I peeled off the foil and the ribs look and smell absolutely amazing!
Time to plate up this week’s Marty Meal!
Let’s sample the Rice, Mushrooms, Carrots, Hike! side dish first.
This is really a tasty side dish and the carrots add a nice crunch to the mixture. The Italian dressing and hot sauce add some zing to the mix.
And now, let’s sample those ribs!
Oh my god! The meat on the ribs literally fell off of the bone as I was taking them out of the pan to put them on the plate.
The meat is tender, succulent and it melted in my mouth! The marinade and seasonings added so much flavor and this was a tasty meaty treat!
And now, for dessert, a titillating pictorial of Women & Ribs!
Have a wonderful Thursday and stay safe and six feet away from everyone. And don’t forget this when you go to the store!
