This week’s sandwich is from one of Peoria’s oldest and most iconic German restaurants, the Peoria Hofbrau.
It’s from June 6, 2017 and I was just about finished with the MBIP year of sandwiches tour. I went there and had a delicious Reuben sandwich and you can see some photos of that below and click on the link to see the entire post!
Here we are at Peoria Hofbrau, definitely a Peoria institution!
There’s Reid behind the bar, serving up their Reuben sandwich!
The sandwich is housed in toasted marble rye bread and there’s a generous amount of corned beef and Swiss cheese inside of the sandwich.
The sandwich comes with homemade Russian dressing and in addition to the savory corned beef and Swiss cheese there’s just a small amount of sauerkraut which adds another dimension of flavor to this fabulous sandwich.
This sandwich used to be a weekly special, but they’ve since added it to the menu and it’s available every day, so stop by and try one out! You’re tastebuds will thank you!
