When most people hear or see the initials AT&T they think of this. But at Casa de Arte located in the Warehouse District of downtown Peoria, they have a new and definitely more fun version of AT&T.
Their version stands for Arte, Tequila and Tacos!
Let’s go check out this interesting trio of letters on our fourth week of sampling Mexican food!
And here we are! I went last Friday night for their First Friday celebration and as you can see, it was snowing outside.
And as you can also see in the door, there is an art show tonight! Let’s go in and check it out!
Wow, there’s a good crowd in here, nice to see everyone supporting this fabulous business in downtown Peoria!
And now, let’s start the Casa de Arte version of AT&T!
Arte
This is Arturo who owns and operates Casa de Arte along with his wife, Carla.
Arturo lives up to the first three letters in his name because in addition to being the owner here, he’s also an artist. Behind him is one of his paintings that hangs near the bar.
Every month Casa de Arte features a local Peoria artist and this month it’s photographer, Shaun V who’s standing in front of one of her portraits.
Shaun’s a talented photographer and she’s the first photographer to be featured here at Casa de Arte! Some of her specialties include weddings, children, families, models, headshots and corporate events.
Check out her website and facecrack page to see more photos and her contact information.
Here’s Shaun’s artist statement which will be hanging on the wall for the month of February.
These photos will be on display for the month of February, you should really stop by and check them out!
Later in the evening a light show gave a whole new perspective to the photos!
Tequila
Now for the Tequila portion of this AT&T post! Of course this will happen at the bar at the far end of Casa de Arte!
They have a huge selection of tequila behind the bar. Arturo told me it’s over 30 bottles, which is one of the largest collections in Peoria!
Niki made me a lime margarita and I thought she looked familiar and she told me I took her picture when she was working at Lou’s Drive-In! Here’s that photo and here’s a link to that post. I can’t believe that was over six years ago!
It was great to see Niki again and catch up. She’s landed a job in Denver and is moving there soon. Good luck in Denver Niki! I’ll see you in another six years!
¡Salud!
Tacos
They have a large selection of tacos here and I got a Marinated Pork and a Steak Taco. I went to the condiment table and added some hot sauce and they look absolutely delicious! Let’s dig in!
Wow, these are so tasty and they are true authentic Mexican tacos.
The tortilla is fresh, soft and warm and the meats are tender, juicy, tasty and succulent. If you want to sink your teeth into true and authentic Mexican tacos, you must come to Casa de Arte and try one of their many taco selections.
I also got a cup of the Elote Street Corn and this is such a tasty side dish.
The corn is plump and sweet and it’s swimming in a sea of mayonnaise, Cotija cheese, Tajin and butter. It’s rich, creamy and the Tajin gives it a nice zing to the flavor!
Arturo and his lovely wife Carla were taking a dinner break at the bar and Arturo had the Torta, which is a Mexican sandwich and Carla was enjoying the tacos.
And Now…Four Completely Random Photos!
Here’s four random photos I took that don’t fit into the AT&T category.
1. Dueling cameras! This is Kevin Mileur and we’ve done this dueling cameras bit many times! He and his wife, Heather have a blog devoted to local art and photography and you can check that out right here.
2. Becky came up to me and told me she enjoys the MBIP blog and of course I always love to hear that! Wonderful to meet you, Becky and thanks for reading the blog! Hope to see you again!
3. It’s a family affair night in here tonight and this is Arturo with Carla and his sister, Maria and his brother Cesar. Great to see all of them!
4. Here’s Niki with the other two women working behind the bar, Bailey and Cynthia!
Thanks to everyone at Casa de Arte for a wonderful and fun AT&T evening. They’re open on Fridays and Saturdays, but rumor has it that in spring they’re going to expand the operation and be open during the week! I can’t wait for that!
