Davis Bros. Pizza was the first pizzeria in East Peoria. They started slinging pies in 1948 and have been located in their current location at Fondulac Plaza since 1997. I went there for a Saturday night pizza just about three years ago to this date. So let’s make like Marty McFly and go back in time.
Oh Sherman, I thing you know what to do…
Sherman, set the Wayback Machine for November 27, 2017 and…
Whoomp! Here we are at Davis Bros. Pizza in the Fondulac Plaza shopping center. As I said in the introduction, they’ve been serving pizza pies here in this location since 1997.
They have a large dining room and it was bustling on this evening. Luckily there were plenty of seats at the bar and that’s where I prefer to sit when I’m dining alone.
Danielle was working behind the bar and served me up an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser with a pretty smile.
Then she took my pizza order delivered it to the kitchen.
There’s the quartet of beers on tap behind the bar.
I love the old telephone booth in here. I just wish they’d put a phone back in here!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, it’s just about pizza time!
Wow, that looks amazing!
The Davis Bros. Pizza is like no other pizza in the area. It’s made with a cracker-thin crust and has seasoned sausage that’s ground really fine. The cheese is layered on as slices and the pizza is cut in rectangle slices. I got mine with extra cheese and onions and it was so delicious!
The crispy thin crust and the way the sausage is ground and the layering of the cheese gives it a unique consistency and the flavor is savory, spicy and tasty!
