It’s Thanksgiving and like this guy, I’m spending the holiday, home alone!
This is by choice, my sister Terry generously offered to cook a dinner, but after talking to her and my brother Tom we decided that this year we could just skip the holiday dinner. I’m hearing of more and more people getting the Corona and I’m in a high risk group, so I have to watch it.
So I’m cooking a dinner for myself and hopefully it’s going to be quite a feast. Before that, I’ll be posting some Thanksgiving day posts throughout the afternoon, so feel free to check back today for updated Thanksgiving Day Parade Posts.
I think I’ll start preparing dinner around 5pm and I’ll be live blogging the prep and cooking portion of my 2020 Thanksgiving Dinner.
I do want to note that the artwork for the title graphic was done by my friend and comrade, “Boris.” “Boris” used to create art for my very first blog, The Marty Wombacher Show and you can check more of it out right here. Check out his radio porgram here which features new and lively artists every week: The Secret Weapon.
Okay, I’m going to start the parade of posting!

GoodPeanuts (A Thanksgiving Parody)
I love this Peanuts clip where they took Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving Dinner and matched it up with the infamous Goodfellas scene!
Okay, check back later for more Turkey day parade of posts!
For Thanksgiving…Add Schlitz…Because, Why Not, It’s 2020, Right?
Who are the ad wizards who came up with this one?

Happening Soon…Jiffy Pop!
Sadly, no Monkeys will be involved in the making of my Jiffy Pop, but it should be fun and delicious in spite of that! I have to run and get some beer now, in the meantime, speaking of Monkees…
Okay, The First Thanksgiving Beer Has Been Opened…
It’s all sideways from here! Now is the time to place your bets on whether or not I’ll be passed out before I make my Thanksgiving Dinner!
The Jiffy Pop Experience!
I decided to make Jiffy Pop for an afternoon treat before the big dinner!
I haven’t made this stuff in years and yes, it actually is as much fun to make as it is to eat! It blowed up real good!
Okay, now we take a knife to the Jiffy Pop and make like a Manson family member slicing open Sharon Tate’s impregnated belly!
It was delicious and a wonderful start to this home alone Thanksgiving dinner. Now time for more beer! Cheers, motherfuckers!
Musical Interlude…
I wrote the lyrics to this song, “Anyway Girl,” which is performed and recorded by my friend, Mark A.K.A. Slim Volume.
Writing these lyrics was a weird thing. One day I went home, sat at the computer and they just came pouring out of me. It’s about memories of a girl I used to work with. This was a thrilling thing to send words off to someone and a week later get this gift of a song! Enjoy
(And check out the comments on YouTube, I’m a legend in my own mind!)
Heeeeere’s Johnny…And Doc, Talking About Thanksgiving…
This is one of the funniest Tonight Show scenes ever!
Pure improv and an hilarious exchange between Doc and Johnny! The best line: “I can’t give you any…but I’ll sell you some!” Ha ha ha!
You Wanna Cook?
It’s time bitches! Let the Thanksgiving feast begin!

The MBIP Kitchen and Tasting Area
Here we go with the 2020 Thanksgiving Dinner! Stay tuned for updates!
—————
The Ingredients
Here’s the items for this year’s Thanksgiving Day dinner, clockwise from left: A potato, A-1 Sauce, Tucker’s Place steak sauce, an onion, Pillsbury Grand Biscuits, mushrooms, Cabot Fiery Jack and Cheddar Cheese, Filet Mignon, carrot slices and radish chops.
I’ll also be using seasonings from the MBIP Kitchen and Tasting Area. Okay…let’s cook!
—————
Baking The Potato
I washed the potato, slathered it in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, coated it with coarse salt and pepper and into the pre-heated oven it goes for about 50 minutes.
—————
Onions and Mushrooms
Next I fried up the onions and mushrooms in butter. I also added hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper to the mushrooms for added flavor.
Then I put them in containers as we’ll be using them in different parts of the meal.
Keep in mind I’m drinking through all of this! It’s not easy!
—————
Biscuit and Twice Baking Potatoes
Okay, I’ve prepared the cheesy biscuit and it’ll go in the oven soon.
I sliced the potato in half, scooped out the potatoes and mixed them up with the Cabot’s Fiery Cheese and butter. Then I put them back in the skins and back into the oven .
Whew!
—————
Spiced Up Cheesy Broccoli and Rice
I added some of the Cabot Fiery Cheese, the mushrooms and onion to the cheesy broccoli and rice. We’ll let that sit off to the side for now.
And yes, I’m still drinking!
—————
Steak Sauce
I combined the A-1 Sauce and the Tucker’s Place steak sauce and added the rest of the mushrooms and fried onions to make a special sauce for the steak!
—————
Pan-Searing, Baking and Resting
Now I’m pan-searing the filets in olive oil and butter on a very high heat. I cooked them for about three minutes on each side and then transferred them to a pre-heated 400 degree oven.
I let them bake in there for about five minutes.
Here they are out of the oven and now we’ll let them rest for about ten minutes while I put the meal all together.
