Anne’s Anteex is a local antique store that’s been selling antiques for over 30 years here in Peoria and Peru. I keep meaning to go there and check it out and last week I finally made the trip and I found a true hidden gem here in Peoria!
The proof is below! Keep on scrolling!
Here we are at Anne’s Anteex on W. Lake Street. The store is all decked out with Halloween decorations. I love those festive skeletons!
And check out the vintage Pabst sign and while I hardly ever get political here, vote for Bobby Spears for Circuit Clerk. He’s got the experience and it’s the right thing to do!
Okay, let’s go in and check out Anne’s Anteex!
That’s Greg Rosenak behind the counter, who owns the shop with his wife, Anne.
Right after I took the top photo, a customer came up with some questions, so he told me to feel free to wander and take some photos, but he said he had something special for me before I left.
So let’s wander and we’ll find out what this special thing is at the end of this post.
This place is kind of overwhelming! There’s so many cool and unique items on display, it’s hard to figure out where to start!
Check out all of these collections!
There’s so much vintage inventory in here, I can’t begin to document all of it, so below are a few of my favorite items. You need to stop in here to get the full experience, trust me!
The first stop was this bin of albums and I found this Archie and Edith album that I had never seen before. I love finding treasures like this in vintage stores.
Years ago I was a big Blatz Beer drinker, mainly because in the ‘70’s you could get a case of Blatz for $4.99, so I loved this display!
Here’s a couple of vintage Tricky Dick items for sale. I love the phrase, “Win With Dick!”
I’ve never seen plastic meat replicas before and these mesmerized me! Plus the ceramic cow nearby is a nice touch!
Yikes, these are two of the creepiest dolls I’ve ever seen! The bald one is especially frightening! These photos will cause nightmares for quite a while!
I never knew there was a professional female Peoria baseball team till now. Oh the things you learn when you shop local!
Check out the Sandy’s glasses and letterhead!
Okay, now it’s time for the special item that Greg promised me. While we’ve never met before, it turns out Greg and I have lots of friends in common and he’s read this blog, so he knows who I am. He said he was going to try and call me when someone brought this bottle in to sell to him.
If you look closely at the label it says, "Bottled Especially For Jerry T. Wombacher.” I forgot this even existed, it’s a bottle made from Hiram Walker for my dad.
Myself and my dad both worked at Fleming Potter, I was a film stripper and he was in the sales department. One of his accounts was Hiram Walker and in the ‘80s they made this for him.
My dad died in July and we had an estate sale with stuff from his house. I completely forgot this existed and now it’s come full circle back to me. Thanks to Greg for holding it for me, this certainly was a wild and pleasant surprise!
And here it is on display at the MBIP World Headquarters Entertainment Area.
Cheers to the memory of my dad, Jerry, the nicest guy in the world! Sometimes things work out in a beautiful way!
