I had a good reaction from people regarding this Mexican food tour and I’ve gotten a lot of suggestions, just like the one below from Celena Hoffstatter on facecrack where she’s replying to her comment where she recommended El Taco Loco.
I’ve had several people recommend this place and I’ve never been there, so I think it’s the perfect place to try out on this second week of Mexican dining. ¡Vamonos!
Here we are at El Taco Loco which is located in this strip mall on Sheridan Road across from Sheridan Village. I’ve heard and read nothing but great things about this place, which opened up last summer, so let’s see if it lives up to its online reputation!
There’s the daily specials on the front door.
One person was in front of me and then I walked up to the counter and Michelle took my order. She was very friendly and what a beautiful smile she has!
The menus are on the wall behind the counter, as you can see, they have a large selection of items to choose from. Click here to see the menus online
The front counter is adorned with original and colorful hand paintings.
Check out these two hombres standing at attention on top of the counter. Feel free to take a siesta any time, muchachos!
There’s seats along the side window and a table in the corner. I found an empty seat in the front window and got all set up for this week’s Mexican feast!
I got a bottle of the spicy green and red sauce that are made fresh on the premises.
And right on cue, Michelle serves up this week’s Mexican dinner!
Here’s a birds-eye-view shot of the lunch. Now let’s try them one by one.
First up is the Flaming Hot Corn. This is a traditional Mexican dish and it’s made with corn, cottage cheese, mayonnaise, butter and flaming hot chips. It’s topped with grated cheese.
I mixed it together and it was delicious! The chips give it some spice and zing and there’s also a rich and creamy flavor and consistency to the dish from the cheese, butter and mayonnaise.
We’re off to a tasty start here!
I had to try one of their specialty tacos and this is the Monterey Taco. It consists of grilled steak, bacon, mushrooms and fresh grated cheese on top.
I put both sauces on, folded it up and it was so tasty!
The steak was juicy and flavorful and the mushrooms and bacon added extra taste sensations to this savory taco.
The tortilla it was housed in was warm and fresh and this is a true Mexican street taco!
Last, but certainly not least is an order of the Orden Flautas, which was the crispy chicken tacos recommended by Celena. This was a wonderful recommendation!
The dish is crispy taquitos topped with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole and shredded cheese. They’re crispy on the outside and filled with delicious shredded chicken on the inside
What a wonderful meal, now if they would start serving booze in here, I might just move in!
