Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” recently snagged several Academy Award nominations. The film takes place in 1969 and Tarantino personally chose all the songs for the soundtrack from the late ’60’s. There’s all kinds of bands from the ’60s on the soundtrack including: Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Simon and Garfunkel, Deep Purple, Vanilla Fudge and many others. Only one band has the honor of having three songs on the soundtrack and that group is one of my favorites from the ’60’s, Paul Revere and the Raiders!
Paul Revere and the Raiders were one of the few American bands in the mid ’60’s to rise to fame amongst the British Invasion. The band formed in 1962 and got their big break when Dick Clark chose them to be the house band on the TV show, “Where The Action Is.” This weekly TV exposure and the band’s unique revolutionary war costumes and goofy sense of humor led them to 14 top 40 hits between 1965 and 1971.
