As I noted yesterday, I’m just going to be posting quick and short blog posts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as I prepare and rehearse for the upcoming Marty Monologues show next month. Last night we had an informal dress rehearsal at my friends Steve and Kathy’s house and then we had a birthday celebration for Joe at Agatucci’s.
And of course, the MBIP Camera was there!
Marty Monologues Rehearsal
This show, like the other Marty Monologues show consists of an introduction and then three stories. I try to keep the stories around 20 minutes and definitely no longer than a half an hour. The second story in this show spans over seven years in my life and it’s been tough to distill seven years into less than 30 minutes. I’ve been working for weeks on it and have had several anxiety attacks in the course of these weeks and at one point I really thought I might have to cancel the show because it just wasn’t working.
I’m happy to report I finally have got it close to a working story and last night I went with my friends, Amber and Joe to our friends, Steve and Kathy’s house to try the story out. It’s not perfect yet, but I did get through it and and they all told me they liked it, which made me feel relieved and good. They all had some good notes as to how to make the story a little more succinct and less rambling and I appreciate their input!
Big thanks to Amber, Joe, Kathy and Steve for last night, it’s a big help and this upcoming show may not have happened without your encouragement and support!
Joe’s Birthday Party At Agatucci’s!
Amber told me it was Joe’s birthday last night and Joe doesn’t like to make a big deal out of his birthday…so we decided to make a big deal out of his birthday and went to Agatucci’s to celebrate it.
We had a birthday plaque for Joe (made by Colleen at Technicraft) and we had a birthday cake after a delicious pizza dinner!
Our friend Clare joined us (she’s in the second photo to the left) and Joe blew out all the candles without spitting on the cake! Nice work, Joe!
Tony Agatucci brought a bottle of Old Toe Whiskey to the table and poured a birthday shot for Joe!
Happy birthday Joe!
