Well, Monday I reported on the last Saturday at Lou’s Drive-In for the summer season and today I have a post on the last Thirsty Thursday at Dozer Park for the year. Looks like summer is officially over!
Last Thursday was the final home game for the Peoria Chiefs and my friend Mike Starcevic invited me to stop out for the last Thirsty Thursday. So of course I went and you can see the photos by scrolling, scrolling, scrolling!
Here we are at Dozer Park and there’s my friend, Mike Starcevic. Mike and I worked together at Fleming Potter a couple of decades ago and Mike now works here at Dozer Park.
Always great to see him and as you’ll see soon, Mike knows everyone here at the ballpark!
The seats are filling up and there’s the Peoria Chiefs mascot, Homer doing a little warming up with a bat.
It’s Thirsty Thursday so we wandered up to the bar and as you can see, there’s a nice variety of beers to choose from. I got a Bud Lite from this friendly woman behind the bar. Cheers!
Here’s a few shots of the crowd and the game is starting up…play ball!
This is a sculpture of Pete Vonachen by Peoria artist and sculptor, Lonnie Stewart.
Pete bought the Peoria Suns in 1983 and renamed the team the Peoria Chiefs. He’s forever known as “Peoria’s Mr. Baseball.”
I roamed around with the MBIP Camera and took some shots of some of the smiling faces in the crowd. And check it out, I told you Mike knows everyone out here!
Night falls on Dozer Park and that can mean only one thing…
Time to get something to eat!
I was going to get a hot dog, but these two people behind the counter suggested a bratwurst, so that’s what I got. I took it to the Heinz Condiment Station, loaded it up with mustard and it was delicious!
Obligatory scoreboard shot!
Here’s some shots of the park as the game comes to an end. I’m happy to report that the Peoria Chiefs beat the Beloit Snappers 5 to 4! Hooray!
Last but not least, a parting shot of Homer and Mike! Thanks to Mike for inviting me out and getting the tickets, it was fun as always!
