Last Sunday was the Third Annual Build Peoria Chili Cook-Off at Dozer Park and it was a lot of fun. There was beer, chili, more beer, Peorian’s, more chili, more beer and I was there with the roving MBIP Camera!
Check out all the festivities below!
Here we are at Dozer Park in beautiful downtown Peoria!
As you can see it was a rainy day, but it was held in the concession area which has a roof overhead so everything was nice and dry.
There was a good crowd inside of all ages.
The field was empty but the Cardinal/Cubs games was projected on the Jumbotron screen for those that didn’t want to miss the game.
Here’s the man responsible for the afternoon and for Build Peoria: Nick Yates.
There’s a lot of people who volunteer and work with Build Peoria’s projects, but Nick is the guy who started the ball rolling. He said this year’s cook-off raised a lot of money and this year’s Build Peoria project is bus shelters on CityLink routes.
Nick said the rainy day worked out good because it shows how these shelters are needed to shield people from bad weather while they’re waiting for a city bus.
Build Peoria had a silent auction as well as other products for sale to help the cause. If you’d like to buy some Build Peoria merchandise just click here.
