Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host The Drunken Moose Lounge and featuring special guest stars, Blaire, Kelly, Chad, John, Carrie, Mike and musical guest stars, Goodnight Gracie!
Now please welcome, from the heart of the Hungry Moose, tonight’s host, The Drunken Moose Lounge!
Here we are at The Hungry Moose which is located in the spot on Sterling Avenue that used to house Bogies.
The Hungry Moose moved here from Farmington Road last April and they now have late night hours and more importantly…they have beer!
Let’s go inside and check it out!
Wow, it’s really nice in here! There’s a dining room to your left as you enter and another dining area opposite that one and booths line the wood-paneled walls. Those all look very nice, but since I’m dining alone…
I’ll belly up to the bar! This is The Drunken Moose Lounge and if you noticed in the last middle picture, there’s live music in here tonight. We’ll check the band out soon, but first…
Blaire serves up an ice-cold bottle of Bud Light with a very pretty smile! The night is off to a wonderful start!
There’s a shot of the back of the bar and the eight beers on tap.
If you look at the upper left of the top photo you’ll see a very subtle unplanned obligatory mirror shot, I love it when that happens!
While wandering around I met the owners of the Hungry Moose, Kelly and Chad.
They bought The Hungry Moose when it was on Farmington Road and then moved the operation here last April. They said business has been great and they’ve been having live music here most weekends and on Wednesday nights.
Here’s a sampling of some of the moose art on the walls.
Tonight’s live music is brought to you by Goodnight Gracie and they sounded great. They play diverse covers and some original tunes too.
The band members are: Tony Glass: Bass, guitar, mandolin, harmonica and vocals, Janet Glavin: Lead vocals, hand percussion and Reid Noe: Guitar, bass, vocals, composer. You can see more photos on their facecrack page and at Peoria Music Live.
Carrie and John were enjoying the music and having a few drinks in the lounge area to celebrate their second wedding anniversary! Happy anniversary, Carrie and John!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, it looks like dinner is just about served and I ran into Mike Ardis who was picking up an order of food.
Mike and his wife Alice just had their first son, James. James is named after his grandfather Jimmy Spears owner of Jimmy’s bar! Check out this photo of baby James with his Grandpa and Alice on his first trip to Jimmy’s Bar!
Congratulations, Mike and Alice!
As I returned to my seat at the bar, my Saturday night dinner had magically appeared!
I got the stuffed bacon and cheddar burger with a side of their signature onion straws. It looks and smells fabulous!
I’ve had the onion straws before and they were just as delicious as I remember them!
I’ve never had a burger here before and this looks so good! It’s a giganzo burger and topped with cheddar cheese, onions and more onion straws.
This is going to be a chore to pick up and get my mouth around, but let’s give it a try!
I had to smash it down a little bit to take a couple bites and this is one delicious cheeseburger!
You can read more about it in the review below, but this is definitely a tasty and satisfying burger!
I didn’t think I could do it, but I cleaned the plate. Thanks to everyone at the Hungry Moose for a wonderful Saturday night dinner and thanks to Goodnight Gracie for the fabulous music! I think I’m going to fast all week after that meal!
I ordered the stuffed cheddar and bacon burger with a side of their homemade onion straws and it was a wonderful Saturday night dinner.
The onion straws were lightly battered and salted to perfection. They were great all by themselves and they also made a great topping for the burger.
The burger was huge, tasty and juicy and topped with melted cheddar, fresh onions and a handful of the onion straws. The cheeesburger was stuffed with bacon and the toasted sesame bun was bakery fresh.
Every meal I’ve ever had at The Hungry Moose has been delightful and this was no exception to that rule!
