Jim’s Bistro has a fried chicken Sunday night special and it’s really delicious fried chicken, I’ve had it many times. But since it’s only available on Sunday nights, I thought this week we’d do something different and feature two chicken entrees, the fried chicken which you can only get on Sunday and another chicken dish that you can order every night of the week.
So let’s get the cluck over to Jim’s Bistro and start this 46th week of chicken!
Here we are at Jim’s Bistro in Peoria Heights. There’s lots of people enjoying the nice weather and eating outside here on the sidewalk patio but we’re going to dine inside.
I’m dining with my brother Tom and my Dad tonight and they’ve secured a table in the middle of the dining room.
Our friendly server is Richard and he delivered me a Bud Lite and took a photo of the three of us at our table. Thanks, Richard!
My Dad is getting the Sunday fried chicken special, so I thought I’d try the Charbroiled Chicken Salad which is available every night of the week.
When I was doing the MBIP steak tour, I got the Chargrilled Steak Salad, so I thought this was a fitting choice for this clucked-up tour.
There’s an elevated dining area in the front of the room that overlooks Prospect Road.
The bar is located opposite the dining area and as you can see, it’s fully stocked.
You can enjoy a drink here and you can also have your meal here as well. I usually eat at the bar when I’m dining alone.
J.T. and Karen were the two bartenders on duty! Great to see both of their smiling faces again!
And here’s the owner of Jim’s Bistro, J.D. Comfort.
J.D. said business has been great and that they’re looking forward to the Taste of the Heights that’s happening this Thursday. I’m excited about that too and I’ll be putting up a post from there next Wednesday, stay tuned!
Here’s a shot from the back of the dining room, as you can see, it’s a packed house in here!
Meanwhile, back at our table, dinner is served! Tom got the only non-chicken dish of the evening.
He’s enjoying the chopped sirloin which is tender ground sirloin topped with sautéed mushrooms and grilled onions. It looks delicious!
My dad got the Sunday special, Jim’s Bistro fried chicken.
As you can see, it’s a generous portion and my Dad said it’s his favorite fried chicken in Peoria! I’ve had it and it’s so flavorful. The batter is light and crispy and the chicken is tender and juicy inside.
I saw a lot of people enjoying this Sunday special!
I got the Charbroiled Chicken Salad which is always available to order.
The dish is a charbroiled chicken breast cut up and served on a bed of crispy fresh greens and dressed with bacon, a hard boiled egg, bleu cheese and the house vinaigrette.
This was so tasty!
The chicken is tender and juicy and the greens and house vinaigrette compliment it perfectly! A light yet satisfying way to enjoy chicken!
Chicken Rating
Four Dixie Chickens for both meals—The fried chicken can only be had on Sundays and be prepared for a crowd inside, people jam the place on Sundays for some of this fried chicken!
The Charbroiled Chicken Salad is a lighter but equally tasty chicken fare that’s available every night. I suggest you sample them both!
