Live, from Peoria, Illinois it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Rhythm Kitchen Music Cafe with musical guests, The Whiskey Trust. Now please welcome from beautiful downtown Peoria, Rhythm Kitchen Music Cafe!
Here we are at tonight’s Saturday dining destination, The Rhythm Kitchen. They have live music every Saturday night and tonight’s band is The Whiskey Trust, who I’ve been wanting to see for quite a while now and to quote both Rod Stewart and Neil Young, tonight’s the night!
I went in through the multiple doors Get Smart style and was greeted by A.B. who was celebrating her birthday Saturday night! Happy birthday A.B! I told her I was going to sit at the bar and she waved me inside!
I made my way through the crowd to the bar and Karen promptly served me up an ice cold Budweiser and took my Saturday night dinner order. Everything is happening perfectly in here, I love it!
As you can see, there’s a nice selection of beer to choose from in here and it’s bright and sparkly behind the bar. As I got up I met Jerry and his family at the end of the bar. Jerry told me he’s a faithful MBIP reader and I always love to hear that!
There’s the chalk board with the nightly specials and it also notes that the live music tonight is brought to you by the previously mentioned, Whiskey Trust!
They’re they are onstage and they sound great! The band plays in a countrified high energy honky tonk style with a touch of rock ’n roll and surf guitar and the sound is stunning! The band members include Jenny Moe on lead vocals, Dave Moe on lead guitar, Brody Maag on drums and Mike Swanson on bass and vocals. Missing in action is Frank Schapmire who plays rhythm guitar and is featured on vocals.
They put on one hell of a show and you definitely should seek them out at one of their live gigs. You can follow them on facecrack right here: The Whiskey Trust.
Check out the chandeliers and art in here. The atmosphere is New Orleans inspired and unlike any other restaurant in Peoria.
Seated at the table are from left: Andy, Brandi, Bob and Cathy. Great to see all of them!
The kitchen is located in the back and I think they’re currently assembling my Saturday night dinner! There’s Julie who currently owns the Rhythm Kitchen along with her husband Brody who’s behind the drum set tonight.
Julie has worked here for 13 years and she and Brody took ownership of the place back on Valentine’s Day!
That’s Rachelle putting our sandwich together. I got the Salmon B.L.T. and it looks delicious!
I made my way back to the bar and Rachelle delivered the sandwich with a lovely smile!
The sandwich has a grilled piece of salmon with crispy bacon along with lettuce and tomato. It looks absolutely fabulous, let’s dig in!
I also got a side of their homemade pasta salad and it was so tasty. The sandwich is served on toasted and buttered bread and it’s one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! The salmon was tasty and flaky and the bacon, lettuce and tomato complimented it perfectly!
This was a wonderful Saturday night dinner!
And the band played on!
The Whiskey Trust was as refreshing as the dinner at the Rhythm Kitchen! Some of the songs from their set list included tunes by Hank Williams, Wanda Jackson, George Jones, Robert Johnson, Johnny Cash and Buck Owens.
The band puts their own signature spin on all of the songs and you should definitely seek them out and see them perform live.
They’re playing at the Rhythm Kitchen on Wednesday August 21st with Big Cedar Fever, a Western swing band from Texas and I highly suggest you come and see that show!
The Rhythm Kitchen Music Cafe has a New Orleans inspired atmosphere and the menu is New Orleans flavored as well. There’s gumbo, crawfish and shrimp creole among some of the entrees on the eclectic menu at Rhythm Kitchen. I chose the Salmon B.L.T. and it was such a delicious sandwich!
It’s a generous piece of grilled salmon filet topped with smoky and crisp bacon and fresh tomatoes and lettuce. The bread is buttered and grilled multi-grain with a lemon=dill aioli. It was such a flavorful and unique treat!
