Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, starring this week’s host, the Weaver Ridge Clubhouse and featuring special guest stars, Matt, Madeline, Ciera, Val, Primo and a bunch ofpeople at a wedding reception we crashed.
Now please welcome this week’s host, the Weaver Ridge Clubhouse!
We’re joined tonight by my friend Matt and his daughter, Madeline. It’s been a while since we hung out, the last time was when I was on the sandwich tour and we had lunch at the Morton Diner along with Scott Turley. I can’t believe that was almost three years ago! Matt volunteered to drive and we’re headed out to the Weaver Ridge Golf Club.
I recently learned that new owners have taken over the golf club and they’re trying to put the word out that not only is the award-winning golf course open to the public, the clubhouse is too.
There’s a restaurant and a bar in the clubhouse that’s open to the public seven days a week for lunch, dinner and there’s a special Sunday Champagne Brunch every week. We thought we’d go and check this place out as I’m always looking for new spots to dine at!
There’s a nice stone sign as you enter the drive to the club and check out the clubhouse! It looks spectacular! Let’s go in and start our Saturday night!
You enter through a large foyer and a stone fireplace sits at the front of the dining room. If you look closely, you can see that Matt and Madeline have already chosen a table, I went back and joined them and got a photo of our pretty waitress, Ciera.
Ciera turned the tables on me by taking the MBIP Camera and getting a shot of the three of us at our table. We placed our orders and now let’s take a look around in here!
As you can see, it’s a spacious dining room and there’s a nice wooden bar in the middle of the room.
Val was the bartender on duty for the evening and she flashed a nice smile for the MBIP Camera. There’s the trio of taps and Val said that they get rotated on a regular basis so there’s an ever-changing variety on tap.
There’s a nice lit-up deck outside where you can eat and enjoy a cocktail. There’s a nighttime view of the golf course.
Meanwhile, back at our table…
The first courses have arrived already! Matt got a salad and I tried out the Chicken Parmesan soup. I’ve never had Chicken Parmesan soup and it was delicious.
There was large chunks of chicken, cheese and pasta in a savory and tasty broth. We’re off to a wonderful start!
There’s Ciera expertly hoisting the main courses on her tray!
Matt got a bacon-wrapped filet and a baked potato and Madeline got the grilled cheese with shoestring fries. Both meals look fabulous!
I got the Smothered Chop Steak with shoestring fries for my main course and it looks absolutely mouth-watering.
It’s a generous portion of chopped steak covered in grilled onions and mushrooms with three types of melted cheese. Let’s dig in!
I added some A-1 sauce and this is the best chopped steak I have ever had in my life!
The meat is tender and tasty, the grilled onions and mushrooms compliment it nicely and the cheese adds a creamy richness to the dish! It was so delicious!
The shoestring fries were crispy, perfectly salty and a real treat!
I was stuffed after my meal, but Madeline still had room for the Fresh Baked Cookie Sundae.
This is vanilla ice cream topped with warm chocolate sauce and whipped cream. At the bottom is a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie.
I didn’t think she’d be able to finish it, but with a little help from Matt, it was gone in record time and the bowl was empty!
Primo is the chef who prepared our meal and he came out to say hi and posed with Matt and Madeline. I complimented him on his culinary skills and he told me that in addition to the wonderful food and drink here, the new owners are going to start featuring live music at the clubhouse.
This Friday, August 16th, The Ed Kaiser Jazz Trio are playing live here from 6:30pm to 9pm with no cover charge for the music! Check out the details by clicking here.
They have rooms here in the clubhouse you can rent out here for private parties, corporate functions, Christmas parties and wedding receptions.
As we were getting ready to leave, we saw this sign and decided to go and take a look at the reception that was happening on the second floor.
It’s right through this door and the lights are colorful and the music is loud and lively!
Wow, what a nice wedding reception! Congratulations, Alan and Emily! We’ll check back next year to see if you have your one year anniversary party at Weaver Ridge Clubhouse!
Thanks to everyone at Weaver Ridge for a wonderful meal and the friendly hospitality! And thanks to Matt and Madeline for driving and joining me for dinner, it was a fun evening!
Matt and Madeline raved about their dinners and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a child devour a grilled cheese as fast as Madeline did!
I started off with a cup of the Chicken Parmesan soup and it had a unique and tasty flavor and was a wonderful start to the dinner.
My Smothered Chop Steak Meal was so delicious and satisfying. The chopped steak was seasoned and flavorful. The toppings and melted cheese to it to another level! The shoestring fries were excellent too! And next time I’m saving room for that Fresh Baked Cookie Sundae!

Four Galloping Gourmets—A lot of people think this is a private club, but both the award-winning golf course and the restaurant and the bar are open to the public seven days a week. I highly recommend you try it out if you’ve never dined there.
