The groundbreaking film, “Midnight Cowboy” was released on May 25, 1969, making it 50 years old just a couple of weeks ago.
This was a popular but controversial movie back then because it dealt with not only straight sex, but homosexual sex and that got it an X-rating back then. It ended up winning three Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, making it the only X-Rated film in history to have won the Best Picture Academy Award.

Here’s what’s happening next week at MBIP!
Monday: Last night I found a hidden gem that’s only open on Friday and Saturday nights in downtown Peoria. It’s Casa de Arte and it’s a combination taco/tequila/art bar. The featured artist this month is my friend Jessica Ball. I went and had some delicious food and some tasty margaritas and checked out Jessica’s wonderful art on display!
Tuesday: It’s the 33rd week in our 13 month chicken tour and I’m going to try a chicken calzone from Double A’s in their new location…well, it’s not so new anymore, but I haven’t done a blog from there yet, so it’s new to me!
Wednesday: In this day of “no smoking” everywhere, I thought I’d visit a business called, “Smoking Pleasure By Work,” which I think is one of Peoria’s oldest cigar stores.
Thursday: This week’s Thursday Minute Marty Meal: Steaks Is High Fried Rice!
Friday: Sgt. Squeak and my mouse roommate for the last 39 years will be featured on this week’s MBIP Casual Friday edition.
Saturday: I’ll be spotlighting a dining destination for your Saturday night dinner.
Okay, I’m going to Double A’s soon to sample a chicken calzone for Tuesday’s post! Have a wonderful Sunday everyone and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
