Today is the 52nd anniversary of the U.S. release of The Beatles album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
I already did a Sunday links on the album, back on the 50th anniversary, two years ago, (if you missed that, here’s the link) so I thought for this post we’d concentrate on the iconic album cover and jacket.
Below are six links to online articles about that historical album cover and then there’s the weekly MBIP Coming Attractions.
A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
(Bonus points if you can find my photo on the album cover below!)
Every Character On The Cover - Click on the cover to find out the identity to every person and thing on the cover, this is really cool!
11 Things You Might Not Know About The Sgt. Pepper Cover - I did not know most of these factoids about the cover, nice trivia!
‘Sgt. Pepper’ Reborn: How The Iconic Album Cover Might Have Looked Today - This is an interesting idea, they picked an all new cast for the album cover and put them in place. I like the choice of Chuck Berry and I’m surprised he wasn’t included in the original cover!
The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Cover (2017): An image for all seasons - Here’s a collection of parody and alternative covers starting with The Mothers of Invention who first did a parody of it back in 1968, for their album, “We’re Only In It For The Money.”
How “Sgt. Pepper” Got Its Cover - it’s always been said that Paul McCartney dreamed up the idea for the cover, but this shows he may have had an inspiration from a 1964 EP that had been presented to McCartney back then.
The Beatles cover photographs for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band - An interesting video montage of still photographs of the making of the album cover.
Here’s what’s happening on MBIP next week!
Monday: Last night I went to the 12 Bar Lounge, a fairly new spot that’s located above Edge in Peoria Heights. It’s a really cool space with wall to wall windows and I had one of the best cheeseburgers in my life!
Tuesday: The 13 month chicken tour continues and I found yet another version of chicken and waffles at Tavern on Prospect and this might just be the most unique version yet!
Wednesday: I’m going to go to “The Art of the Brick” exhibit at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. It’s being billed as “The World’s Most Elaborate Display of Lego Art.” And I’ll probably go say hi to the creepy couple that took over from Abe and Perry in the backyard.
Thursday: I’ll be making yet another Thursday Minute Marty Meal. I think this week we’ll do some sort of pasta dish with a side of corn. As usual, I’ll just make that up as I go along!
Friday: I’ll find something in the MBIP World Headquarters to write about for this week’s Casual Friday segment, but that’s too far away to think about now!
Saturday: There will be another Saturday Night Dining Suggestion, but again, I have no idea what place I’ll choose.
Stay tuned for all of that and more, more much! Have a fabulous Sunday and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
