I’ve changed the name for this segment from “30 Minute Marty Meals” to “Thursday Minute Marty Meals.”
Originally I thought it would be funny to call it “30 Minute Marty Meals” and then have every meal take a lot longer than that, but this week I didn’t think that was funny anymore so I switched it to “Thursday Minute Marty Meals.” I like that title because it doesn’t really make much sense, kind of like my life!
This week’s Thursday Minute Marty Meal is a breakfast burrito except I don’t eat breakfast, I never really eat anything until about two in the afternoon, so this will be an afternoon breakfast burrito. And I’m also making a Tater Tot Fondue. So there!
Let’s get cooking!
This Week: The Afternoon Breakfast Burrito With Tater Tot Fondue
Ingredients (from left): Prairie Farms Milk, Boar’s Nest Chorizo Sausage, French Fried Onions (not used in recipe, just for snacking while making the dish), Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese, Texas Pete Hot Sauce, Ore-Ida Tater Tots, eggs, Cheese and French Onion dip, Mission tortillas, Portobello mushrooms, Smart Balance (fake butter) and 10 inch bamboo skewers.
All the ingredients were purchased at the Schucks on University Street.
The first thing we need to open is a 16 ounce can of Bud Light, cheers!
Now we’ll make the cheese sauce for the Tater Tot fondue. The base is a hunk of the Smart Balance, about a half cup of milk and a can of the cheddar cheese dip. Then I added about a half a can of the French onion dip, some Sweet Baby Ray’s wing sauce, slices of the Wisconsin cheddar cheese and a healthy dollop of Texas Pete hot sauce.
It tastes great! The cheddar cheese dip and slices make for a rich flavor and it’s got a nice sharp dimension to the taste from the French onion dip, the wing sauce and the hot sauce. Okay, we’ll let this simmer on a low heat and let the flavors continue to merge while we put the rest of this Marty Meal together.
I chopped the mushrooms up and sautéed them in Balsamic vinegar salad dressing. Once that reduced down I added some chopped Chorizo sausage to the mixture, cooked it up and then put it off to the side. This will be the filling for the afternoon breakfast burrito.
Beer break!
The Tater Tots take five minutes, so we’ll put them in the microwave while we get cracking with the egg portion of this meal!
As you can see, we have a nervous egg man…well, his pleas fell on my left deaf ear and I cracked him open and scrambled him and three other egg men up. I added a dash of Texas Pete’s hot sauce and then the mushroom and Chorizo sausage and the eggs taste delicious!
I put some slices of the Wisconsin cheddar on a tortilla and placed that under the broiler to melt it and turn the tortilla into a cracker consistency.
While that’s melting, let’s take a moment to enjoy another delightful can of beer!
Okay, the cheese tortilla is ready and I added some pepper to it. It’s time to put this Marty Meal together!
There it is all plated and ready to enjoy! The burrito is crisp, so you can just tear pieces off and eat it with your hands, caveman style! The eggs are fluffy and light and the chorizo/mushroom mixture adds a nice layer of spicy zing. The tortilla brings some crunch to the meal and this is a tasty afternoon treat!
I took a bamboo spear and stabbed a couple of Tater Tots like they were Manson Family victims and dipped them into the Fondue cheese sauce and it was not only a rich and delicious side dish, it was a lot of fun to murderously stab and eat these cheesy potatoes!
And for dessert…may I suggest another beer?
I knew that I could, till next week, this is the Thursday Minute Marty Meals wishing you happy meals every stinking day that you have to suffer through another day on this rotten earth!
