I’ve never been a big fan of Halloween, even as a kid. I mean I participated in it, but only because I was kind of forced into it. When you’re a kid you kind of have to do what you’re told and go along with what people tell you to do, so I’d put on some sort of outfit and knock on doors and get free candy from people in the neighborhood, but it always kind of bothered me.
While I appreciated getting free candy, what bothered me was the lack of control about the whole thing. I mean you had to accept whatever candy or goofy item that the person answering the door threw into your bag. A lot of the times I didn’t even want the candy that they were giving me. I always thought it would be better if people would put out a Halloween candy buffet where you could pick out the candy of your choice instead of having to accept whatever hunk of junk the person was throwing into your bag.
Yes, I thought about things a lot as a child and I still do.
As I got older I just started ignoring this sugar-driven holiday and pretended like it didn’t exist. But this year I’ve been invited to a Halloween party over at Good Day Central Illinois tomorrow on Halloween. I always appreciate getting invited to a party, so I’ve decided to get into the spirit of this holiday and thought I’d make a two day spooktacular Halloween adventure out of the whole thing!
My plan is to go out early and trick or treat at three places here in Peoria and then let Mark, Shelbey and Molly from Good Day Central Illinois take their pick of the three treats. This way I can have fun and I have control over the treats!
But first we need to get a costume. And when you need a costume, there’s only one place in Peoria to go to and that’s…
The Costume Trunk on Main Street!
As you can see from the front window, they are definitely in the Halloween mood!
I went in and there’s the owner of The Costume Trunk, Steve Spain doing his annual Halloween dance!
While he picks my outfit out, we’ll take a little tour in The Costume Trunk.
Costume Trunk Tour!
As you can see, there’s everything in here you need for a fun and fancy Halloween outfit. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, there’s still time to stop in today and let Steve fix you up with a first class Halloween costume!
And speaking of costumes, Steve has mine all set. It’s a Swami hat and coat and it looks shiny and spectacular.
Okay time for the before and after photos!

Me in the Swami outfit! And I’m using the Marty Monologues bag that Chelsie Tamms from Lettering Works made for me!
First Stop: The Nut House
The first place I went to was the most logical place in the world to go and trick or treat, The Nut House, Peoria’s oldest candy and nut store!
Mary saw me outside and opened the door in true trick or treat fashion! So far this is working out perfectly!
The Nut House Pre-Trick or Treat Tour
While she gets our treat ready we’ll take a look around in here. Mary said that if kids come by tomorrow on Halloween they’ll get a free treat from the Nut House. Sweet!
Alright, treat number one is in the bag! Thanks, Mary!
Second Stop: Relics
Relics is one of my favorite gift shops in Peoria. And in addition to the unique gifts and cards in here, they also have some sweet treats, so let’s go inside and trick or treat them!
Jen was behind the counter and she said she’d pick out a treat to put into the Marty Monologues treat bag. So while she’s doing that, we’ll take a pre-treat tour in here!

Check out all of the spooky gifts in here! Stop in and get some unique Halloween goodies for your party tomorrow!
Okay, Jen has put the treat in the bag! Thanks Jen!
Third Stop: Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory
Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is located in the Metro Centre and I’ve never been in here. This seems like the perfect day to check it out, so let’s go inside!
Wow, it’s nice in here. Amber was behind the counter and she agreed to be part of this trick or treat adventure and said she’d pick out a treat for us.
So, once again, while she’s preparing the treat, we’ll wander around and get some Halloween inspired photos.

If you want some gourmet Halloween candy to hand out tomorrow, stop in here today! They even have pumpkin chocolates!
There’s Amber putting the third treat in the bag. Thanks for the treat Amber!
This was fun and tomorrow you can see what the treats are by tuning in to Good Day Central Illinois! I’ll be on a little after eight in the morning and I’ll let Mark, Shelbey and Molly pick a treat out from the bag.
I’ll also be taking pictures from the entire show and that will be part two of this Halloween adventure tomorrow on Halloween here at MBIP.
So tune in to Good Day Central Illinois tomorrow on WYZZ and then check the blog out afterwards!
There’s no tricks, just treats this Halloween on MBIP!
