Live from Peoria, Illinois it’s Saturday Night, starring Gilbert Gottfried at Jukebox Comedy Club and featuring Saturday night dinner at Country Club BBQ. So now please welcome, Country Club BBQ and then get ready for the comedic stylings of Gilbert Gottfried at the Jukebox Comedy Club!
Here we are at Country Club BBQ which is conveniently located right down the street from the Jukebox Comedy Club. Hey, check out the sign, I guess I know what I’m having for dinner!
Let’s get inside, it’s colder than all my ex-relationships out here!
Wow, it’s jam-packed in here. I’m running late so luckily I found a spot at the bar to squeeze into and friendly bartender Ethan said he’d fast track my meal to me.
Holy shitballs, that was fast, thanks for the great service, Ethan! I did what the sign told me and ordered chicken wings along with a side of the fried corn on the cob. Dinner looks delicious!
That was a wonderful dinner! I got the rib rub wings and they were so tasty and the rub had a nice savory and spicy flavor. The corn was crisp and succulent, but next time I need to bring some floss because I have some of it stuck in my teeth! Okay, the dinner portion of the evening is done and now it’s off to...
The Jukebox Comedy Club! Gilbert Gottfried is one of my favorite comedians, so I’m excited to see him tonight. I’m also excited to get inside and out of this fucking freezing weather! Have I ever mentioned that I fucking hate winter? Well I do, so there!
There’s the line to pick up your ticket and owner, Dan Conlin is behind the bar handing them out. Always great to see Dan and catch up on things. He said Gilbert’s show has been getting raves from everyone and I love the specialty tickets they make up in here for the shows.
Autographed photos of comedians line the wall above the bar and there’s tonight’s headliner, Gilbert Gottfried from a past appearance here.
Here’s some of the upcoming acts at the Jukebox. Tim Meadows from Saturday Night Live is appearing this up-coming weekend. They really get some big names here at the Jukebox!
Wow, it’s packed in here all of a sudden! I think I see some familiar faces there in the crowd...
It’s the Torok family who I always look forward to seeing here at the shows. They’re loyal Jukebox fans and they are from left: Tami, Morgan, Jim and Matthew. They’re wonderful people and it’s always fun to chat with them before the show!
Here’s Tami and Jim with their friends, Tim and John. Tim, John and Jim all work at Sherman’s so let’s give that place a little plug right here and here! I’ve been friends with Tim since high school/Bowl Mor days and I want to thank him for the two drinks he bought me! I owe you a couple Tim, you left before I could pay you back!
Alright, the show is about to begin! I made my way to my table and my waitress is Rachel! Seated next to me is Amy and Mark and they told me that they’re fans of the blog and that they enjoyed last week’s post on Cheese Nuts Pizza in Junction City. Thanks to both of them for reading the blog! And now it’s showtime!
You can’t take photos during the show, but here’s a shot of the stage and a video of Gilbert Gottfried to give you a hint of what you missed. Get a ticket next time!
After the show I ran into my friends Chip and Jenny and in the photo below are the two comedians who opened the show. From left it’s Chris Schlichting and Joe Roderick, who were both hilarious and had great sets and had the audience and me howling in our seats. There was occasional laughter as well! Standing on the far right is comedian and Jukebox regular, Jeff Bailey who just got back from an out of town gig.
There was a meet and greet after the show and I got took some photos of people posing with Gilbert including Chip and Jenny!
Then Jenny took the official MBIP Camera and got some shots of me buying Gilbert’s book, Rubber Balls and Liquor and we also had a nice little chat about New York. I actually saw Gilbert on 14th Street in NYC years ago and never thought I’d meet him in Peoria!
Here’s the Torok family with Gilbert!
Becky Jester was nice enough to take pictures for people, so I turned the tables and got one of her and another with her, Gilbert and her husband Jason who’s a local comedian.
It was another fun night at the Jukebox Comedy Club and thanks to Dan Conlin for keeping comedy alive in Peoria, Illinois! You should go and see a show and support Peoria’s only club for comedy!
