This week we’re going to sample a chicken dish that hasn’t been tried on this fowl tour and that dish is Chicken Parmesan. I’ve been meaning to stop in and do a blog from Bernardi’s Pub in Dunlap for some time now and I’ve heard that their Chicken Parmesan is one of their specialty signature dishes. So i’d say it’s time to get the cluck over there and try it out!
Here we are at Bernardi’s Pub in Dunlap. I’ve been meaning to do a blog from here for a long time now and tonight’s the night, to quote both Rod Stewart and Neil Young.
We have a special guest star joining us tonight and that special guest star is none other than my dad, Jerry! Always fun to have him along and no sooner do we get settled in than our friendly and pretty waitress Jody appears with an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser! I love the presentation, Jody could have a future as a hand model!
My dad was perusing the menu, but as I noted in the introduction, I’ve come for the Chicken Parmesan which is a Bernardi’s signature dish. We ordered and then it was time for me to roam around and take a few photos.
There’s several dining areas in here and here’s a shot of the dining room my dad and I were seated in.
The bar area is on the other side of the restaurant. There’s a large, wooden square bar with tables behind it and booths line the far wall.
Moe was doing duty at the Host station and flashed a pretty smile for the MBIP Camera. Thanks, Moe!
Here’s two shots from the front and back of the dining room next to the bar.
The back of this t-shirt reminds me...
I need to join my dad back at the table. I think it’s just about chicken time!
And right on queue Jody shows up with our fowl feasts!
My dad got the fried chicken, which Bernardi’s is famous for and he got a side of spaghetti with the chicken. Yeah, that’s a side of spaghetti! I think a full order might look something like a scene from Magical Mystery Tour!
Jerry wastes no time digging in and in between bites he said the dinner was delicious! He loved the spaghetti and raved that the fried chicken was fantastic!
Now it’s on to the featured dish for the evening: The Chicken Parmesan. It’s certainly a giant portion and somewhere under that blanket of melted mozzarella cheese is a chicken breast.
There it is! This is a fabulous chicken dish! There’s a multitude of flavors and textures happening here. The chicken breast is marinated and juicy and the marinara sauce adds a nice Italian robust flavor to the mix. Then the pasta and the rich, creamy melted mozzarella cheese complete this flavorful meal. No wonder it’s a signature dish here!
And for dessert, we’ll have an obligatory bathroom mirror shot. A calorie free dessert after a wonderful dinner! Thanks to my dad for joining me and everyone at Bernardi’s for a clucking good Chicken Parmesan dinner!
Chicken Rating
Four Dixie Chickens—I don’t think I’ve ever had Chicken Parmesan while doing this blog and I think I started with the best! If you’ve never had this dish at Bernardi’s Pub, do yourself a favor and get the cluck over there and try it out!
