It’s the fifth of July and that can only mean one thing, the annual photos from the 4th of July Backyard BBQ @ Peoria Riverfront Museum. And so, here we go, back in time to yesterday’s festivities!
As always there’s a line to get in, but it moves quickly and before you know it we’re in the museum. Outside you can see people starting to fill up the lawn area down there.
Faces at the Fireworks, Part One
I thought this year I’d try and see how many faces I could take pictures of. Here’s the first group in the order that I took them.
More people are on the lawn down there and I spy a buffet line. This can only lead to one thing...
The Food
The food is catered by Cracked Pepper and they do a great job keeping the food fresh and plentiful for this many people! The menu consists of barbecue fare including hot dogs, pulled pork, green beans, Italian pasta, potato chips and Rice Krispie treats for dessert.
This is my plate and the dinner was delicious! You have to have a hot dog on the 4th of July, it’s a rule!
There’s giant Abe and Perry Como on the back lawn and people are also starting to fill up the riverfront area in anticipation of the fireworks show.
Faces at the Fireworks, Part Two
Even more smiling faces from the evening. My goal was to get 50 faces and that’s exactly how many I got! I love it when things work out like this!
One of the faces in the crowd was Ray LaHood, a Peoria native who served as United States Secretary of Transportation from 2009 until 2013. In addition to that he’s my dad’s cousin so it was great to meet him!
Nighttime is starting to fall and people are anxious for the fireworks show!
This is the spot I’ve staked out to take my photos.
The Fireworks!
And here we go! The show was spectacular and these photos are just a small sampling of the sparkly and booming 4th of July presentation! The crowd loved it!
Thanks to the Peoria Riverfront Museum for another wonderful and fun 4th of July Backyard BBQ party! It was a blast and thanks also to everyone who let me take a photo, it was fantastic to see old friends and meet new ones! Happy fifth of July and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
