Live, from Peoria, Illinois it’s Saturday Night with your hosts, Country Club BBQ and Jukebox Comedy Club with special guest star, Chris Kattan! Now please welcome the first host of the evening down on Farmington Road, Country Club BBQ!
Since I have tickets to see Chris Kattan at the Jukebox Comedy Club, I thought it would be handy and dandy to have the weekly Saturday night dinner here at Country Club BBQ which is just down the road from the Jukebox. Hey, check out the sign, always nice to be welcomed! Okay, let’s enter and start this week’s Saturday night!
The tables are crowded, but luckily the front bar is wide open so I grabbed a stool, got settled in and Blayne arrived just in the nick of time armed with an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser! He took also took my dinner order and everything is moving along just like clockwork!
As you can see they have a nice amount of beers on tap to choose from in here. At first I thought that was a painting of Kurt Cobain, but upon closer inspection it’s actually Keith Urban, which makes sense since this is the Country Club BBQ after all! They get their meats from Raber’s which is right down the road near the Jukebox and there’s a vintage picture of the meat packaging place that’s been in business here in Peoria for years.
There’s picnic tables opposite the bar and up on this riser area to sit and dine at. The dance floor brings back memories of the Jambalaya Throw-Down we had in here! There’s also another bar in the back and out the door is...
Yet another bar in the beer garden back here. There’s also a fire pit and you can smoke back here if so inclined.
Meanwhile, back at the front bar Saturday night dinner is served up by Khloe and Erin, how beautiful is that? And the dinner looks really good too! I got a half a pound of rib tips and an ear of fried corn on the cob.
The ribs have barbecue sauce on them, but there’s also several house-made sauces you can add, so I thought I’d try the Dark Ale Mustard. That sauce complimented the tender and juicy rib tips perfectly and they were so tasty! The fried corn on the cob was equally delicious but a little messy as that pile of napkins proves! Alright, that was a fabulous dinner, now it’s time for the comedy portion of the evening as we head on down the road to...
The Jukebox Comedy Club! As I mentioned, Chris Kattan is the featured act tonight and this is the first time that we have someone from Saturday Night Live on the MBIP Saturday Night segment, so that's pretty exciting! There’s the familiar bar complete with images of hometown comedic heroes, Richard Pryor and Sam Kinison. Michelle who’s been featured on the blog before serves up a drink with a pretty smile!
I looked over to my left and there’s the smiling face of the owner of the Jukebox, Dan Conlin! Always great to see and chat with Dan and after conversing with him I turned around and saw the Toroks who I met in here when I saw Tom Green and it was a pleasure to catch up with them. As you can see, it’s a packed house in here tonight. Let’s go inside and get our table.
On the way inside I saw some posters for upcoming acts and one for tonight’s star, Chris Kattan. There’s the stage and my table for one! Once the show starts you can’t take pictures, so I’ll put up a little reenactment here on the blog.
Chris Kattan is announced and...
The audience goes wild!
There’s Chris on stage and first he blew himself up and he blowed up real good! Then he shrank himself into a mini Chris Kattan and for the finale he turned himself upside down in a Diana Ross inspired moment! What a fantastic act!
After the show I ran into comedian Jeff Bailey who headlines here occasionally but tonight he was one of the opening comedians and his set was hilarious and got a great reaction from the crowd. You can follow him on Twitter by clicking here. I also ran into Misty and Joni and I first met Joni at the Norwood Pub a while back, great to see her again!
There was a meet and greet after the show where you could meet Chris and get your picture taken so I got in line. When I met him I told him I loved his appearance on WWCT with the squeaky microphone and he laughed and said that was a lot of fun and that he loved Roxy Baker’s laugh! Hi Roxy!
Yet another fun night at the Jukebox after a wonderful dinner at Country Club BBQ! Sadly now it’s Monday and I have to go get ready for work, so we’ll see you all tomorrow!
