One of the most prolific podcast shows at the PJ Star podcast network is “Tarter Source," which is hosted by PJ Star writer and reporter, Steve Tarter. Steve debuted the show a little over two years ago on March 10th, 2016 and I was honored to be the very first guest on his show! I guess Steve thought that by having me first, it could only get better from there! I’ve been friends with Steve since the early ‘90’s when Steve used to write for my magazine POP before I moved to New York. This Thursday marks Steve’s 100th show and he’s having me back on as the 100th guest! You can watch that live on the PJ Star facecrack page this Thursday and look for updates as to the exact time here and on my facecrack page.
In honor of this special event on Thursday, I’m presenting six links to half a dozen of my favorite Tarter Source episodes below. Steve’s great at interviewing guests and these are really fun conversations to listen to! Below that are the coming attractions for next week right here on MBIP!
Tarter Source #74: Legendary broadcaster Larry King - Most of Steve’s interviews are with local people, but last November, Steve interviewed legendary broadcaster, Larry King. My only disappointment is that he didn’t ask him what his favorite sandwich is. (Inside joke alert!)
Tarter Source #72: Peoria historian and writer Molly Crusen Bishop - This is a conversation with Molly Crusen Bishop who’s a local writer, Peoria historian and she also manages the GAR Hall in downtown Peoria. She also is the admin for the facecrack page, Tales From The Whiskey City.
Tarter Source #58: Peoria entrepreneur and lettering artist Chelsie Tamms - This episode Steve has a fun conversation with Chelsie Tamms who’s Peoria’s premiere lettering artist and entrepreneur.
Tarter Source #12: Steve Spain and the art of Walt Disney - Steve Spain was Steve’s 12th guest back in June of 2013. Steve is the owner of The Costume Trunk, which has been in business on Main Street for over 35 years. It’s a the only business of its kind in Peoria and Steve also discusses his love of Walt Disney art and his book devoted to that subject.
Tarter Source #8: Superheroes, movies and free comics with Bob Gordon of Acme Comics - Bob Gordon, owner of ACME Comics and MBIP pal and Contributing Writer discusses his unique business and comic books in this Tarter Source episode.
Tarter Source #1: Too Weird for New York: A Conversation with Peoria blogger Marty Wombacher - This is the debut show back in March of 2016 and I was honored to be Steve’s first guest. It was a lot of fun and Steve is really good at hosting the show and asking questions that lead to fun conversation. I’ll be back on Tarter Source this Thursday celebrating Steve’s 100th show!
Usually on Sunday I have a couple days somewhat in the can for the following week. This is kind of how it works for the MBIP weekly schedule, usually on Thursday or Friday, I’ll go get my steak dinner and take photos and notes for the Tuesday seven months of steak tour post. Saturday night’s I go out for my Saturday dinner. That way Sunday I can work on those two posts so that Monday I can go out and do something for the Wednesday post and then Tuesday and Wednesday’s I work on Thursday’s and Friday’s post. I’m almost always a day ahead of myself and that way if something goes wrong, I have time to improvise and do something else. Well this week is a little different! Last week I had to get my leg drained and that set me back on working on MBIP. I also had a wedding to go to, the happy couple are pictured above and I’ll reveal their identities on tomorrow’s post. Since I had the wedding to go to, I was going to go out Friday night and do my dinner thing for Monday, but we had problems at work and that didn’t happen. So I have to do something for tomorrow today and I’m still trying to figure out what to do. The rest of the week is kind of up in the air and I’m going to plan that tonight, so the blog will be somewhat live next week! I have a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday, so I’m not sure how I’m going to get all of this done, but tune in and see how I stumble through next week and can hopefully start catching up here! Have a fun Sunday and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
