Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Friday Night starring this week’s host, Cassie from Mariachi celebrating her 29th birthday with her co-host Tim and a whole tableful of guests! Now, please welcome Cassie, Tim and all the guests from her birthday party at Mariachi Mexican Restaurant!
My friend Cassie is turning 29-years-old this week and last Friday she had a party to celebrate it here at Mariachi and I was invited! So let’s go inside and start the celebrations!
I met Adriana and the owner of Mariachi, Pepe at the host station in the front of the restaurant. I met Pepe, when I came here last March when they first opened—I can’t believe that was almost a year ago! Pepe said that business has been good and I’m happy they’re doing well in this location! Of course I’m about an hour early so let’s take a little tour of Mariachi! There’s the main dining room and there’s large booths that seat four comfortably lining the front wall. There’s another dining area in the very back of the dining room.
The archway leads into my favorite spot in here, the bar! I walked past this fellow who looks a little stoned and there’s the bar in all of its glory!
As you can see the bar is very large and there’s the beers on tap and if you look real closely you’ll see a tiny tequila keg to the far right. Speaking of tequila, there’s a row of frozen margarita machines. Antonio was not only bartending, he told me he was going to be our waiter for the birthday party, nice!
Speaking of the party, here’s the table where we’re going to celebrate at! The time is getting closer, but so far no other guests have shown up, so we’ll take some more pictures and I have a sneaking suspicion that some will show up after those are taken.
There’s a slightly elevated dining area on the other side of the bar and booths line the far wall.
I love all of the Mexican paintings and artifacts in the restaurant.
And here’s the first guests of the evening! They are, from left: Lindsay, Simone, Tiffany and Rich. They’re all really nice people and it was a pleasure to meet them. Simone is from Australia, so I told her about my fifteen minutes of fame in the land down under! I thought Tiffany looked familiar and it turns out she's been featured on the MBIP blog in this post, see if you can find her!
Here’s the guest of honor, the birthday girl, Cassie, with her husband, Tim! Great to see both of them and Cassie is looking very pretty and doesn’t look a day over 25! Her shirt is perfect for the evening!
Suddenly all the guests showed up and this was quite a crowd, they even had to add an additional table at the end to accommodate everyone! I put the MBIP Camera down at this point so as not to disrupt the party and I took my seat at the table.
I did take the camera out to take a photo of my dinner, which was the Texas Fajitas. Lindsay recommended them to me and I thank her for the recommendation, they were so delicious! The fajitas are a medley of beef, chicken, shrimp with grilled onions and green peppers. It was slightly spicy and so savory and tasty! It came with tortillas, rice and beans. I skipped the beans of course!
After dinner it was time for Cassie to open up her presents!
There she is with the official MBIP Bag-O-Gifts! One of the things I got her were socks that warned, “Assholes Are Everywhere!” Midway in opening up gifts they brought Cassie a celebratory sombrero to make things more festive! As you can see, I’m not the only one taking pictures!
Another present I gave her was beanless chili, because that’s how we met! Other gifts included wine, an owl mug and more fun socks!
The night ended with a hug from Cassie’s friend Anna. Hugs not drugs! I tend to think in the opposite direction of that last sentence, but hey, it’s not my birthday!
And before you know it, the party’s over! It was a great time and thanks to Cassie and Tim for inviting me! Happy 29th birthday, Cassie, looking forward to celebrating the big 3-0 next year!
