It’s hard to believe, but a week ago at this time they were slicing me open and putting new arteries in my heart! People asked if I was going to blog about it and honestly at first I wasn’t going to because I was pretty nervous about the whole thing. But I’m home now and decided it would make a nice little Halloween Creature Feature! Let’s begin with an introduction from Count Floyd!
Awoooo! Thanks, Count Floyd, now on with the show!
The Patient
Here I am at St. Francis on my second day at the hospital. My brother Tom took this photo. I’m hooked up to all kinds of wires and pumps and the pillow on my chest is to hold against what’s been cracked open. Now let’s take a closer look!
The Blackened Wrist
This is my wrist which was also used as a portal for a bunch of needles and pumps. It kind of looks like beef jerky gone somewhat bad.
The Leg Of Terrors
They took the veins for my new arteries out of my left leg. And yes it’s the same leg that got terrorized by a spider in Mexico back in March. I should’ve told them just to amputate this thing, it’s really not doing me much good this year! Let’s hope for better in 2019!
The Chest Of Sores
To work on my heart they had to crack my chest open and it starts way up by the neck....
And it travels down the middle of my chest…
And ends up here. But there’s more below this!
The Terrible Tubes
Thoe two sections mark where two tubes were inserted in my stomach for drainage. I thought that there was just an inch or so inserted in my stomach and imagine my surprise, pain and hurt when on Saturday they pulled them out and there was at least six inches of tubes in my stomach. And the tubes were about a nickel wide in circumference! That was the most painful thing of the whole procedure. Well, at least that’s all over and I’m home and all of this is healing up! I’ll be back tomorrow with thoughts I had before and after the surgery. Happy Halloween!
