The first time I ever was on a radio show was way back in 1985 on the Gene Konrad Show on WIRL to talk about the Idiot Trivia game. After I did that show, Gene asked me if I had ever thought about doing radio because he said I had a good voice for it and was quick on my feet while doing the interview. I kind of laughed it off, but that idea always hung in the back of my mind.
Through the years I’ve don a lot of radio shows due to promoting different projects and when I moved back here in 2012 I went on The Greg and Dan Show to promote this blog. Well, that led to someone from Alpha Media, the parent company of WMBD Radio approaching me to do a video segment for their website. That idea was me going to restaurants and doing a video that would be me spotlighting a local restaurant.
Well, it’s a long story that isn’t too interesting, but it led me to doing a radio audition for WMBD radio for a once a week talk show. Greg Batton ran the board for the audition and served as my sidekick. In the end, they told me that the slot for the radio show wasn’t going to be available and I didn’t have the time to do the video thing on a freelance basis, so nothing happened. But I’ve never put up these MP3 files from the audition and I’ve always been happy with them.
So, if you’d like to hear my one-time radio show on WMBD, click on the files below. I’m the host, Greg Batton is running the boards and is my side-kick and the special guest is Bob Gordon from Acme Comics!
Ladies and gentlemen, live from Peoria, Illinois, it’s the Marty Wombacher Show!
