Cyd Henrikson started making a name for herself back in 1987 when she started baking her unique and tasty cookies in the Metro Centre’s Bagels + More. Cyd’s Gourmet Kitchen And Cafe has been located in Junction City for years now and is a popular spot for dining, picking up take-out orders and catering for local parties and business events. Last year it was announced that a new chapter for Cyd’s is going to happen this year and that chapter is a move to the clubhouse In Donovan Park just down the street. That’s exciting news and this coming Saturday is the last day that Cyd’s is open in Junction City. I wanted to have one last post for the MBIP blog from there and while trying to figure out what to do, I thought to myself, “Hmm...what would Jesus do?” Then it hit me like a flying leper right between my eyeballs: Last Supper At Cyd’s Gourmet Kitchen And Cafe!
Here we are at Cyd’s. If you want to go and pay your last respects to this location you better hurry up, it closes this Saturday! Now let’s get inside because it is freezing out here!
The sign announcing the move to Donovan Park is here in the foyer. Okay, time to enter Cyd’s for one last time!
I love the spacious dining area in here and I’m anxious to see how they set up the new space when it opens.
These cases over here hold both sweet and savory delights to eat here or take them home for dining.
There’s more sweet treats to eat over here in the bakery section.
While walking around snapping photos I ran into Emily Cotton who’s the co-owner of Cyd’s along with her mom. She told me that they’re hoping to be open sometime in March or April of this year and she said that as time gets close, I can do a preview of the new space here on the MBIP blog! I can’t wait for that! Emily’s husband is Keith Cotton who’s one of the best photographers in the area and beyond. Some of his photos are hanging on the walls in here, so let’s go take a look at a few of them!
These photos don’t do his photos justice, so click here to see more of his work and you can see Keith featured right here on MBIP by clicking here.
Alright, we came here for a last supper, so let’s start making that happen. Cyd’s has a nice selection of bottled craft beers to enjoy with your dinner.
After selecting a beverage I walked over to the counter and placed my order with Julia who was working behind the counter.
I was looking for a place to sit and something seemed to be missing. Looking at this large communal table up front, I realized what it was and now it’s time to bring on today’s guest stars. Hey guys, do you want to have a seat over here?
There we go, now this is a real last supper! Hey Jesus, be damned sure that Pilate washed his hands!
That table was a little crowded so I’m going to sit right over here where I'll have some room to move.
I started off with the baked potato and bacon soup and it was the perfect antidote for this cold winter evening. Everything here is made from scratch and oh so delicious!
For the main course I got a salmon burger and a side of french fries. I’ve never had the salmon burger and it was really tasty and the bun was bakery fresh. The fries were exceptional too, very crispy on the outside and there was fluffy potato magic happening inside. I couldn’t have asked for a more tasty last supper here in Cyd’s!
Oh brother, after I was done eating, Jesus shrunk himself and was walking on top of my glass of water. What a showoff! We’re all done here, just say take a seat and say goodnight, Jesus!
What a wise guy! Thanks to Cyd, Emily, Julia, Keith and everyone else at Cyd’s for the great food and good times through the years here at Junction City. I’m looking forward to the next chapter at Donovan Park this spring! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
