Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Hacienda El Mirador with special vegetarian guest host, Ben (B Löwd) Lowrey and featuring special guest stars, Julia, Lucas, Amanda, Miguel, Amber, Joe, Danielle, Brent and Tallis, who gets a treat! Now please welcome from Junction City, Hacienda El Mirador!
This vegetarian episode starts off as they all do with my friend, Ben picking me up to head off to our meatless dining destination. Ben had the idea for these monthly vegetarian meals and he’s also a DJ and a producer and his stage name is B Löwd. You can hear some of his music by clicking right here.
Tonight we’re having an extra special meal here at Hacienda El Mirador at Junction City. This is the only place to serve a Mexican breakfast in Peoria and usually you can’t get it in the evening. I spoke with Julia, who owns this restaurant with her husband Lucas and she said that they would make us a special Mexican vegetarian breakfast tonight, so I can’t wait for this meal to happen! Since it’s so nice out we decided to have the meal outside on their patio dining area. The sign says to see the hostess for patio seating, so let’s go see the hostess inside!
Okay, we’re inside, but where’s the hostess? She’s not at the stand or over here in the bar...but I love that painting on the wall! This place is decorated so nicely, I love all of the artwork in here! But where’s the hostess?
Here she is! This is Amanda the hostess and she’s looking very pretty tonight! We told her we wanted to sit outside on the patio...
So she led us out the door and into...
The patio dining area! It’s really nice out here and this is a perfect night for dining outside. If you want to see some photos of the inside dining rooms of Hacienda El Mirador, just click here and see some photos from our last dining episode in here.
There’s Amanda with some drinks and she’s with Miguel, who’s just one more of the friendly staff here at Hacienda El Mirador. In addition to the drinks, Amanda brought us a cup of the homemade soup of the day which was a squash and corn soup and it was so hearty and tasty!
Here’s the owners of Hacienda El Mirador, Julia and Lucas. They’re so nice and welcoming and they said they’ve made us a special vegetarian Mexican breakfast meal for this evening! I can’t wait and they started us off with some homemade tortilla chips with three different dipping sauces. Check out the sign, it’s Margarita Monday tonight, you should stop out after your horrible work day and make it all better with a margarita at Hacienda El Mirador!
Alright, dinner is served and it looks so delicious! You can read more about it in the review below, but Julia and Lucas made us Vegetarian Breakfast Enchiladas with Ranchero Eggs and rice. It was so delicious and this is truly authentic Mexican food. Julia and Lucas make every meal from scratch and all the recipes are created by them. As I said earlier, this is the only place in Peoria serving up authentic Mexican breakfasts and it is usually served from 8am to around 11am. I highly recommend you try this, it’s a breakfast like no other in Peoria!
Wow, check this out, here’s Julia with some dessert! It’s a slice of flan pie and homemade strawberry ice cream in a deep-fried cinnamon tortilla shell! A sweet ending to a fantastic vegetarian meal!
Special Guest Stars Arrive!
Just as dessert arrived, so did some special friends and guest stars for the evening! First to arrive was Danielle and Brent who just got back from a vacation at Wisconsin Dells. Danielle brought me a souvenir, Uncle Oinker’s Bacon Mints! Whoops, this is a vegetarian post, I’ll have to save those for later, but thanks Danielle! Bacon truly does make everything better!
Next to join us were Amber and Joe and they brought their son, Tallis too! Now this is a real party! It took a little coaxing to get Tallis to pose for the MBIP Camera, but he got paid off when he finally did because...
Miguel brought him a treat! That was so nice and Tallis really enjoyed it. What a great evening!
Thanks to everyone at Hacienda El Mirador for a wonderful and tasty Mexican breakfast dinner and thanks to Ben, Amber, Joe, Danielle, Brent and Tallis for coming along for the evening, it was a wonderful night! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
Julia and Lucas made us a special vegetarian breakfast meal and it was so delicious and filled with flavor. The main portion of the meal was vegetarian enchiladas and they were made with Fresco Cheese, poblano pepper strips and sour cream. They were served with a mild dried pepper sauce and finely diced carrots, peas radishes and lettuce. They were so delicious! The cheese was rich and creamy and the pepper sauce added a nice savory Mexican flavor to the mix.
The enchiladas were also served with rice and Ranchero Eggs topped with a vegetable sofrito. Ben and I both agreed that this was one of the best vegetarian meals we’ve ever had!
Hacienda El Mirador is the only place in Peoria serving up a Mexican breakfast and in addition to these enchiladas and Ranchero Eggs, they also have omelettes, pancakes, French toast and breakfast burritos, quesadillas and enchiladas! Breakfast is served here seven days a week starting at 8am!
