As far as I know there’s only one white picket fence on Main Street here in Peoria. And behind it is a shop called Primitiques that I’ve been meaning to stop in and take a look around ever since it opened a couple of years ago. So let’s hop on over to Main Street and take a dramatic, journalistic leap and dare to go...Behind The White PIcket Fence!
Here we are at the corner of Main and Sheridan and there’s Primitiques looking nice and standing tall behind...
The White Picket Fence! Now comes the moment of truth, do we dare to go...
Behind...The White Picket Fence?
(Dramatic pause...)
Well we made it behind the white picket fence and it’s very nice inside! I guess there was no need for all that drama, but hey, it was fun while it lasted, right? Well, it was for me, let’s just keep moving along here! That’s the pretty and friendly owner of Primitiques behind the counter, LeIsa! She said we’re free to wander around with the MBIP Camera, so let’s take a little tour of this place!
Lisa told me she’s been open here for two years and there was originally a gas station on this corner. Anyone out there remember what gas station that was? Anyway, as you can see, they have a large selection of candles here in the front room! There’s candles on top of displays, rows of battery operated candles and Primitiques is the exclusive dealer of Black Label Candles from Broken Windmill Farms. Check out the unique scents these candles have! I’m curious about the White Wool Stockings scent! I guarantee you wouldn’t want a candle with a scent from my socks, but that’s a whole different blog, let’s just keep moving along here!
In addition to candles, there’s all kinds of fun and unique items here in the front room including a burlap coffee piece of art, mittens, a birdhouse and look at the hand-painted switch covers! I love those and Leisa told me she made them, nice work!
There’s lots more behind this doorway, so let’s go take a look!
This section here in the front of the room is an interesting and unique idea that Lisa has here in Primitiques. It’s a wedding rental section. All of the items here you can rent for the day of your wedding and then return them after the ceremony. There’s everything here from candelabras to signs, candles, flowers and all kinds of decorative items. I think this is a great idea!
In the back is another specialty corner called, “Lou’s Corner,” (private joke alert between me and one other person!) which is filled with women’s clothing and boots. A lot of the items here and in the store are consignment items, feel free to contact Lisa at the number at the bottom of this post if you have items you are interested in selling here at Primitiques.
In addition to those specialty items, Primitiques is loaded with cool knick-knacks, chairs, art and all kinds of one-of-a-kind items. I found something in here for the MBIP World Headquarters!
Here’s Leisa with her friend Donna handing me my package as I head out the door and travel back to MBIP World Headquarters. There it is out of the bag and...do we dare to unwrap this item? Do...we...dare?
Oh, okay, enough of this dramatic bullshit, let’s just see what I got!
I got a little friend for Tripod, my pet sheep that Amber brought back to life. If you missed that you can read all about it via this post! Looks like they’re getting along very well!
Meanwhile, over in the front of MBIP World Headquarters, Sgt. Squeak looks on at the proceedings and wonders, “How the fuck did I end up in this world of madness?” Thanks to Leisa for a fun tour of Primitiques and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
