Last week I put a song up on facecrack from the Phil Spector Christmas Album and that caused me to start Googling him and reading some stories about his crazy and eccentric life. Reading about him reminded me that money allows you to be insane, until you shoot someone and kill them and then the fun ceases and prison happens. Below the Phil Spector links are this week’s MBIP Coming Attractions!
Phil Spector Fast Facts - If you’re not familiar with Phil Spector, this is a good and quick guide to his life.
Ronnie Spector interview: 'The more Phil tried to destroy me, the stronger I got' - Phil Spector produced The Ronettes hit records, then he married the lead singer, Ronnie and kept her a prisoner in their mansion. A good lesson in watch out what you wish for! Luckily she escaped and went on to have a hit record with Eddie Money in the ‘80’s.
Phil Spector and The Beatles - Phil Spector “re-produced” The Beatles album, “Let It Be” and while John Lennon and Ringo Starr were happy with the results, Paul McCartney and the original producer, George Martin were furious about the final results. Spector went on to produce solo work from Lennon and George Harrison.
What Happened When Phil Spector Met The Ramones - I love the fact that Grandpa Munster is part of this story!
Phil Spector on Scorsese, Be My Baby sound and Brian Wilson - Here’s the crazy man himself talking about Martin Scorsese using his song, “Be My Baby” in his first film, Mean Streets and how he ended up getting his songs in Scorsese’s future movies. Look at his eyes and you can see pure madness!
Phil Spector and the Murder of Lana Clarkson - The last chapter of Phil Spector’s life proves one thing, it’s all fun and games until someone shoots a D-list actress in the face and kills her. And of course that someone is none other than Phil Spector!
We’ve got a big week coming up next week including a pre-Xmas dinner at Hacienda El Mirador with my friends Amber and Joe. After dinner we went back to their house to exchange presents and Thurston got a bowl and Tallis went on a festive and ferocious attack and gleefully destroyed his presents! It was a fun and epic evening! Tuesday is our 10th week in the seven month steak tour and to celebrate hitting double digits, I’m having steak and eggs with my friend Julie. You’ll have to tune in to see where we go for this steak-a-licious meal! Wednesday brings yet another MBIP Christmas tradition and that’s where I go and visit Santa. I may go to two locations this time, but don’t quote me on that as I’m still trying to figure it out. Thursday we’re going to have a special People of Peoria feature that’s done live on the Greg and Dan show because I’m going to be a guest on the show that day! I’ll be on sometime after 5:30 in the morning, so tune in if you’re up at that ungodly hour and you can hear me on the radio! Friday is the monthly Thirsty-Third Friday and this month it’s a fifth anniversary party for MBIP! So you’ll definitely want to see that. And now I have to go meet Julie for our steak and egg feast, have a gravy Sunday and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
