More than 2,800 documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy were released this week renewing interest in the presidential assassination that happened back in 1963. Conspiracy theories and articles about the JFK assassination have always intrigued me and I’ve never believed it was Lee Harvey Oswald that killed the president. Below are links to different Kennedy assassination links including a mini documentary about the “Umbrella Man”, How Life magazine secured the rights to the Abraham Zapruder photos (starring my friend, Dick Stolley!), songs about the assassination and a link to a theory on a parody of the whole thing. And of course there’s the weekly coming attractions for what you can expect to see here next week on MBIP!
The Umbrella Man - I love this six minute op-doc, produced by Erroll Morris and published on the NY Times website in 2011. There’s a certain charm and underlying wit that most conspiracy theories don’t have. It’s a good example that if you look at anything too closely, weirdness will appear.
Kennedy's Assassination, How LIFE Brought the Zapruder Film to Light - I’m lucky enough to have heard this story in person, from my friend, Dick Stolley when I lived in New York City. It’s a fascinating story and an interesting slice of history.
Linkin' Kennedy - I never knew there was such a commonality between the two presidential assassinations!
The Beatles, JFK and Nov. 22, 1963 - Mike Wallace reported about a certain English group on the CBS Morning New with Mike Wallace on November 22, 1963. Hours later President Kennedy was killed and the nation forgot about this group...until The Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan show about two months later and perked up the nation’s grim, post-assassination mood.
JFK Assassination Songs - I had no idea there were so many songs related to JFK’s assassination!
The JFK Assassination ‘Magic Bullet’ Parody Is A Classic ‘Seinfeld’ Moment—Except For One Problem - A conspiracy theory on a parody of a conspiracy theory.
Tomorrow is a special Saturday Night edition! It was Sky Harbor’s 46th Anniversary this week and I went there with my friend Sheila and we took them some anniversary presents, plus they got inducted into the ultra-exclusive MBIP Twelve-Timer’s Club! Tuesday is the third week in our seven month tour of steak and it’s going to be a road trip that I’m going on today! Wednesday we’ve got a tour of the Chillicothe Town Theatre, which is one of the last classic movie theatres in the area. I got some cool shots of the theatre at night that I'm excited to publish! Thursday I’m starting a new feature that I was going to start last week and didn’t have time to do it, so hopefully this week I’ll get it done. You have to tune in to find out and now I have to go and start getting some of this shit done! Have a wondrous and fundrous Sunday and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
