LIve, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill, with special guest stars, Lauren, Elizabeth and Joe and featuring the Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, please welcome this week’s host, located in Campustown right off of Main Street, The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill!
Here we go up Main Street driving deep into the heart of another Saturday night...or something like that! There’s the Fieldhouse over there, let’s go inside and let this Saturday evening begin!
The bar is pretty well filled up, but I see a spot down there at the end, which is where I like to sit anyway and once I sat down I spied a familiar face behind the bar...it’s bartender, Lauren looking just as gorgeous as the last time we saw her here which is when we came here for the second chicken wing tour! Great to see her again!
The Fieldhouse has a new menu and one of the options on the menu is that you can build your own burger or sandwich, that sounds like fun, so...
I made a special MBIP Saturday Night Sandwich creation! You can read more about it when it’s served, so keep on scrolling!
They have a big selection of beers here, as you can see the two coolers behind the bar are filled to the brim with cans and bottles of different kinds of craft, domestic and imported beers.
And there’s eight beers on tap with different rotating craft beers to choose from. The chalkboard to the left of the bar has the different selections for the week that are available on tap behind the bar.
And there’s more specials and events listed here on this chalkboard and Mary Kelly does the chalk art for this every month. Nice work, as always, Mary!
There’s a collection of framed sports jerseys on the wall to the left of the chalkboard art.
Tables and booths for dining are available in the spacious room just opposite the front bar area.
This back room can be reserved for parites and there’s also live music and comedy shows back here, click here for more details on the back room here at The Fieldhouse.
I ran into Joe, who we met two years ago when he was lounging outside with his friend T.J. It was good to see him and he said he enjoyed the Fleming Potter post that went up here last April. After talking to Joe, I found out his grandfather, Bernard Lasiewicz worked at Fleming Potter years ago! Very cool and great to see Joe again!
I met Elizabeth while wandering around and in addition to being one of the cutest women in the bar, she’s also the assistant general manager here at The Fieldhouse and she was excited that I was building my own sandwich off of the menu! She told me that some of the creations that people make become featured items on the menu, like WWCT’s Marc Alghini’s “CT Morning Blend With Bacon Burger.” That burger is available through June, so if you’d like to try it, you have a few days left this week! Great to meet Elizabeth, but now, speaking of food...
Time to get back to the bar, because it looks like the sandwich we built is just about ready to make it’s appearance here on MBIP!
Yes, here it; is being served up by Lauren!
As you can see, I didn’t skimp on ingredients, this is one towering behemoth of a sandwich!
For my side item I got the homemade potato chips called, The Chippers. They’re fried to a golden brown and look crispy and delicious!
I also ordered up three of their house-made sauces to top the sandwich off with. They have over 20 sauces to choose from and I love that! Nothing better than a saucy sandwich!
Here I am saucing up the sandwich, which I’m calling, “The MBIP Saturday Night Special Sandwich” and I have to smoosh it down to get it into my mouth. And I have a big mouth, so you know this sandwich is monster-sized!
This was a great sandwich! you can read more about it in the review below, but I’m very proud of my creation! Maybe it’ll make it to July’s menu and you can try it yourself!
As you can see, the sandwich was kind of messy to eat and required a small mountain of napkins to clean up with, but it was worth the mess! Thanks To Lauren and everyone at The Fieldhouse for another great meal and evening there at Campustown! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
I really like the build your own burger/sandwich option at The Fieldhouse! It’s fun picking the different components and then seeing it brought to life as it’s delivered to you at the bar!
For my sandwich I chose the following ingredients: Protein: Crispy chicken and ham; Cheese: Cheddar, horseradish blue cheese and nacho cheese; Toppings: Cole slaw, grilled white onions and a fried egg; Sauces: Sweet chili, sriracha and honey sriracha; Bread: Texas Toast.
The sandwich arrived and it was stacked high! I had to smoosh it down to get it into my mouth and when I did it was a sandwich packed with flavor! The chicken and ham were nice bases to the sandwich, but the tastes that really came through were the cheeses, the white onion and the homemade sauces and it was a delicious sandwich! The fried egg added a nice consistency to the sandwich and the Texas Toast was grilled and buttery and this was a top-notch sandwich! And it was so much fun picking all of the ingredients for it!

Three and a quarter Galloping Gourmets—A wonderful and tasty sandwich that was as much fun to order as it was to eat, and yes, I will be coming back here for our year of sandwich tour, stay tuned for that!
